This is an e-mail I was given. Many may have received it, but the media will not do its job, so it is up to us.
This is an inspiring story about a true hero who was buried at Ft Rosecrans, a beautiful resting place for some of our best.......
PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save his fellow Seals. (Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD. He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS.)
During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego , as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery , SEAL's were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.
This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
I don’t think I have ever seen someone pull out their own hair and place it on a casket before.
God bless him...and all the other brave men and women who risk their lives every day in the service of their country.
I’ve seen the video of the SEALS putting their tridents on the casket. This is no BS. What an amazing sight. By all accounts Mansoor was an amazing man.
EOD’s are absolutely fearless.
Some start as SEAL and end up EOD. Some are EOD and travel with SEAL teams. Both are highly trained and fearless.
May be true, but Michael was a SEAL.
He warms your heart.
Who cares if he is EOD or not. The only thing that matters is that, Micheal gave hi life so you can live. Who cares, he saved many mens lives that day. Who cares if his casket wasn’t draped with the flag. He died so you can sit on your lazy butt and live. Why don’t you get out there and jump on a grenade. I don’t think you would do it, to save your family, wife, kids, maybe. But what about people you don’t know. You just think about that why won’t you.
