I thought Freepers might want to know about this - if you have kids or run across people using these symbols so you can protect the kids and help the FBI find these people.

ok.. question.

if i see someone wearing such a ring or necklace, and proceed to pound their head into the ground... can i collect a reward when i turn in the liquefied remains?

on a more serious note... could i have any legal problems if i restrain the individual until authorities arrive? which brings me back to wondering about restraining ‘techniques’ on said individual... like... announcing to the gathering mob what the guy does

I don't know why a triangle would suggest anything sexual. Usually, it is symbolic of ambition and energy (fire). It is male but if there is esoteric quality to it — perhaps derived from the Egyptians or Greeks, maybe Masonic in nature — that points to sex, I don't see it.

Given the FBI’s past record, how do we know they aren’t talking out of their Clymers on this one? Remember that that BS “terrorist warning signs” report in Missouri?

I’ve seen those rings for sale in places like Walmart. It would be easy for someone to buy one not knowing what it stood for.

>p>The triangle symbols are a lot like the Celtic Triquetra (^), which is a Pagan/Irish/Celtic/Christian religious/whatever symbol; or the Triskelion (^), which existed in most early Mediterranean cultures in one form or the other and is still used everywhere from Sicily, to the US DOT's logo. A slightly more complex design would look a lot like a Greek meander (also called a Greek key).

Additionally, I have seen people wearing spirally designs to indicate a labyrinth, which is of interest to some modern people religiously - Pagans, I think.

The photos of the rings look a lot like things you can get in the silver jewelry kiosk at the mall.

So, this *may* be true, but there are so many people wearing this sort of symbolic jewelry out there, it would be hard to separate the people wearing things innocently from the predators. Which ones do you report?

Just my opinion, but the way to keep children safe is to know where they are, who they are with, and to teach them to say "no" to inappropriate advances. That, and to report specific suspicious behavior to the authorities at once.

I wonder if any of the MSM newspapers or ABC News etc will run this. It's important.

Will the ABC team care as much about protecting children from being raped as they care about protecting them from eating french fries?

Children being overweight is big stuff for ABC, CBS, and NBC. Lots of stories about that.

Will the New York Times cover this?

It should be on every newscast - in every newspaper. It will evoke memories of seeing people wearing this badge of evil. Those memories could save a child.

I remember seeing a big thuggy guy in a store shopping line some months back who had the blue child symbol on - I didn't know what it meant then, but I remembered because my initial reaction to the guy was negative. He came across as brutish - then I saw the little necklace piece and thought I had misjudged him - the jewelery spoke of "sweetness". Turns out I didn't misjudge him. He was a monster. Now, I'm feeling the full horror. I didn't like standing next to him in a checkout line - what would an innocent child feel being trapped by this bully?
