Is '24' Still '24' Without Jack Bauer? (Spoiler Alert)

In previous seasons, we've gotten a major death, a biological attack, Jack faking his own death, being kidnapped by the Chinese and plain ol' pontificating.

But how will season seven of "24" click to a close? "The most I can tell you is that it is not going to end because someone cuts two wires and the clock on the bomb stops," Kiefer recently revealed.

You’re correct the original 24 and the original 007 are the best. I did not say they weren’t.

The question was simply would anyone watch “24” without Jack Bauer?....

And the answer is yes, they may not have the following or the viewer satisfaction of the past but as long as they sell and have the possibility of making money they will be produced and watched until they no longer draw a crowd.

The 3 Stooges had many combinations:

(from Wikipedia.com)
1. Moe Howard and Ted Healy 1922–1923
2. Moe Howard, Ted Healy, and Shemp Howard 1923
3. Moe Howard, Ted Healy, Larry Fine, and Shemp Howard 1923–1932
4. Moe Howard, Ted Healy, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard 1932–1934
5. Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard 1934–1947
6. Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Shemp Howard 1947–1956
7. Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Joe Besser 1957–1959
8. Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Joe DeRita 1958–1975
9. Moe Howard, Emil Sitka, and Curly Joe DeRita 1975

I personally liked combination 5 but I watched combinations 5-8 not thrilled with it, but watched.

Walker can’t hold a candle to Nikita of La Femme Nikita. She’s one of the few stars of La Femme Nikita TV who hasn’t shown up yet on “24”. OF Course, If Nikita shows up, it’s over for any other female star, except Chloe of course. She’s the female Birkof. And hey, the Walter wouldn’t hurt either. He could cure Jack.

Ironic, given that Connery only got a shot because Moore was contractually tied up with “The Saint.” A lot of people hated Moore, but he was Fleming’s first choice. I personally liked Timothy Dalton’s harder edge in the role. Go figure.

The question was simply would anyone watch “24” without Jack Bauer?....

And the answer is yes, since the question asked if "anyone" would watch. Of course someone would. But the real question should be would the show still be a top rated show, and the answer is that it would not be.

In an interview a few years ago Roger Moore (JB II or III) said even his own kids said there was no real replacement for Connery.

I understand your point that they could carry on the show w/o Keifer Sutherland as Bauer, but it would be cancelled after the first season. A spinoff with another character might work but it wouldn’t be ‘24’ as we’ve come to know and love it (well, with the exception of their political correctness and Jeannene Garafalo).

Maybe the nephew could come back to restore honor to the Bauer name after it’s revealed that he really wasn’t Greg’s son, but was Jack’s offspring. I mean, you DID catch the looks between Jack and his sister in law, didn’t you ?

“I personally liked Timothy Dalton’s harder edge in the role. Go figure.”

Same here....and Daniel Craig is excellent :-)! I basically liked all of the Bond flicks except for Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Die Another Day. That’s not too shabby considering they are up to 22 now (23 if you count that horrid remake of Thunderball with Sean Connery).

“But 007 films are still being produced without Sean Connery.”

Not quite the same. 24 would not be 24 w/o Jack Bauer. Maybe Kiefer Sutherland could be replaced, though, as was Connery.

I don’t much care about “Jack” but if this show keeps moving toward the LEFT with Global Warming, etc, its not going to matter anyway because I’m ALMOST ready to stop watching it. (Too many commercials anyway).

Keifer needs to quit whispering and speak up. His soft voice seems completely out of character and causes me to keep modulating the volume to hear what he's saying. How a puny little wimp like him got this great part is beyond me.

* Chloe O’Brian: I fit in here fine, there’s no reason why you can’t.
* Morris O’Brian: Except I’m not a pretty lady.
* Chloe O’Brian: What’re you talking about?
* Morris O’Brian: You’re a hottie.
* Chloe O’Brian: No I’m not!
* Morris O’Brian: Yes you are, deal with it. (touches her posterior)

Considering that Kiefer has agreed to do a Season 8, he will probably survive Season 7.

"... You do not weaponize a germ inless you have a cure..."

I didn't think of that.

You, my FRiend are absolutely correct. Starkwood is an American corporation. As evil they are it's impossible to believe they would release a contagion they did not have a cure for.

Totally disagree. To me, Daniel Craig is almost as good as Connery, and in some ways better. For example, he fits the bill of a cold-blooded killer more than Connery, which is what I expect these guys to be. He is also “craggier,” looks more like he’s been through some stuff, not as “pretty” as Connery. Right now, it’s 50/50, but I could see him surpassing Connery.
