It’s Orwellian Newspeak, of course. The essay at the end of Orwell’s “1984” makes everything clear.

If this were to be passed (which I don’t think will happen), it will soon be challenged in the Supreme Court and the Feds would lose.

It can't, the 13th amendment stopped slavery. Only a court can impose involuntary servitude after the conviction by jury of a crime.
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Note that it doesn't say that Congress can impose mandatory service on anyone they want.

Maybe the Democrats plan on blacks becoming slaves again? It wouldn't surprise me if they did.

The bill also includes language for a National Public Service Academy (4 year-college level) set up like the current US Military Academies (ie: Annapolis, West Point, AFAA etc....)

There is rumor that the funding for the Public Service Academy (Acorn University) will be derived from the closing of one or more existing Military Academies.

Mandatory/Required volunteering of 100 hours by all High School and Middle School students.

I just wonder how Obama is going to get private schools and private school teachers who don’t get a dime of federal money to participate in this.

People have to let the White House, Congress, and the Senate know via fax, e-mails, phone calls, and letters that in no way will they participate in this crap.

These low lifes who voted for this want to be elected next time around. When this travesty becomes public knowledge (and it sure isn’t now) and people know what the ramifications are for themselves and their families, they will be outraged. It will become that third rail that terrifies government officials and they will do everything they can to distance themselves from it.

I just read this to my son (13) and his response was, “Great, a black president making a bunch of white people into slaves.”

I’ve already contacted my congressmen (Cornyn and Hutchison) and told them what I thought about this bill.

I had also contacted my HR Rep. (Culbertson). He had voted against it. He is usually spot on conservative. He is a good man.

I haven’t seen too many postings about people contacting their reps. Maybe if Glenn Beck and/or Rush got a hold of this people would burn up the phone lines again.

This particular bill passed the House on Monday, It is the Text of H.R. 1388: Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act. Pay special attention to Sec. 1304. amended sec. 125 Entitled Prohibited Activities and Ineligible Organizations. The Hitler youth program has come to America!!!! This is mandatory for the youth of this country under this bill.
which states:

SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:

‘SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

‘(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:

‘(1) Attempting to influence legislation.

‘(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.

‘(3) Assisting, promoting, or deterring union organizing.

‘(4) Impairing existing contracts for services or collective bargaining agreements.

‘(5) Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to any public office.

‘(6) Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials.

‘(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

Our Constitution has specifically addressed this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech,

or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,
and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

This is over the line!
