"Daughtry will end up being the biggest selling Idol.

Although I like Daughtry's music quite a bit, I think Carrie Underwood will never be unseated. Country stars have much greater longevity than rock stars. She was one of the biggest selling acts in all of music the last three years.

Paula looks like she can’t quite process this.

Both Clarkson and Underwood have set high bars that no Idol will probably ever hit.

Sadly, the US listening public isn’t good at picking good singers. Kris is pretty good — actually really good — but there is a huge distance between really good and great.

The track record is pretty dismal.

If I was competing (hey, lets do “Fogey Idol!), top 10 would be enough to start a career where I can ply my craft and not suck up to 13 YO girls with a cell phone and too much time on their hands.

Simon Cowell in May 2005 to Carrie Underwood after she sang Heart’s “NEVER.”

“Not only will you win this show, you will sell more records than any other previous Idol winner”.
