When the Disco Medley was playing, I turned to my kids and said “I guess a lot of kids are gathered around their TVs tonight because Grandma’s gonna be on American Idol!” (I added “Grandpa too” when KC stumbled out.)
KC and The Social Security Band!
The sun must have set!
Comments like these are why I pay good money to read this thread! ROFLMBO!
Not just you, dawg. He was pitchy.
ROFL!
Seacrest: Simon, any helpful last words for Mister Obama?
Cowell: Well, only just that at first, all that running around changing things and raising taxes was kind of exciting, really, wasn't it, but then after a while it just got to be too much, and all those excruciating self-promotion tours, and really, in the end, it was all forgettable and boring. If I never see that head bobbing left to right again after that prompter, it will be far too soon."
Even fast-forwarding over it, I could still see the annoying near-squinting and lip-licking he always does. 19E has had this guy for a year and haven't fixed those bad habits yet?
Isn't that the truth. I listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and it almost seems prophetic. ("Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me.."). I've caught bits and pieces of his bio on Biography Channel... interesting guy.
Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury both had so much more to offer, whose lives were cut short by choices they made.
ROTFL!! I knew he was a bad, bad monkey, but I really didn’t realize the extent of his evilness!
Oh me too! I broke mine on Easter Sunday. The following Monday- not Easter Monday, but the next one (I remember the Illini were in whatever the college basketball championship game is called and it was on every single TV at the hospital)- I finally realized the bruising from my second toe all the way around my ankle bone wasn't getting any better.
I didn't hear it snap, but (this part is not for the faint of heart) the next couple of days I could feel a couple of the bones shifting around in there. And for some reason this didn't signal that maybe I should go to the doctor? LOL
I really don't come out looking very smart in this story.

Season Five Winner Taylor Hicks Returns to the IDOL Stage and Top 4 Finalists Revealed Wednesday, April 29
Tune in the following night Wednesday, April 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to find out which finalist will be sent home. Also, Taylor Hicks returns to the IDOL stage to perform Seven Mile Breakdown, the latest single from his album, The Distance.
Since winning the fifth season of AMERICAN IDOL, Hicks has released his platinum-certified debut album, toured throughout Asia and performed with legendary musical acts such as The Allman Brothers, Willie Nelson and Earth, Wind & Fire. The Alabama native made his Broadway debut in 2008, and can currently be seen starring in the national tour of Grease.
Hey Nea, Taylor’s going to be doing one of our favorites from the new CD!
LOL!
I thought you'd get a kick out of that! :)
Actually yes. This is going to sound like a joke, but U2 scored a musical version of Spiderman.
Starring Adam Lambert as Spiderman :)
LMAO!
LMAO! That Spiderman always cracks me up.
Never was a fan of his anyway but thought he did much better last year than last night.
Thanks for that info, Netizen!! That is indeed great news!
Now, here’s hoping they deign to announce Taylor this time, instead of just having him come onstage without any introduction whatsoever, like last time! LOL
I still think its Allie Red & Lambert in the finals, Simon knows its easier to market a teen and i’m not sure this whole thing isnt fixed anyway
For some reason she’s not getting top votes. But she’s still there!
And so it starts. Check this article out.
Sigh* Pop culture is so sad.
Do ‘American Idol’ voters discriminate against minorities, gays?

Lil Rounds performs on “American Idol” on Tuesday night. She was voted off the competition Wednesday.”American Idol” is many things. Off the top of my head, I can think of about two dozen adjectives, both positive and negative (well, mainly negative) to describe the program. Bigoted, though?
We run a live blog of each “American Idol” show and there was some interesting commentary last night upon the elimination of Lil Rounds (African-American) and Anoop Desai (Indian-American).
Mlive user getdownman posted this: “I can’t shake the feeling that America is showing its ‘True Colors’ by voting off the most obvious minorities from the show when clearly from a talent contest, it did not add up. But to log onto the site it was even more of a confirmation that the next person on the chop block would be the one contestant that is the obvious next choice for removal. The gay guy. He’s white and talented sure, but he’s too gay so he’s next whether he is or isn’t more talented.”
By “the gay guy,” the reader is referring to Adam Lambert, who is heavily favored to become the next “Idol.” But is talent enough? Does a performer also have to be totally WASP-y? And not gay?
Salon.com writer Gary Kamiya suggested as much in an interesting piece that ran over the weekend: “No gay man has ever won ‘Idol,’ which raises the sociopolitical stakes of the show’s finale considerably. If Adam loses, will it be because of homophobia? Since we don’t know how the contestants will perform, there’s no way to say. It’s not impossible, sadly, that bigotry could play a role.”

Anoop Desai performs on “American Idol” on Tuesday night. He was voted off Wednesday. This wouldn’t be the first time the “American Idol” voting process has been criticized for similar reasons. The early ouster of Jennifer Hudson (eventual Oscar winner, singing sensation, etc.) prompted similar outcries from, among others, Elton John.
I asked our resident “Idol” expert, Entertainment Editor John Gonzalez, whether there was merit to those criticisms, and he said probably not.
For example, three of the seven winners so far — Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks and Fantasia Barrino — are African-American.
“’Idol’ has always been really good at diversity,” Gonzalez said.
He said the elimination of Rounds and Desai had more to do with voter manipulation on the part of producers who want to position a strong contender against Lambert.
And if a man with prematurely gray hair can win the top prize, anything’s possible, right?
Are you sure you want that to be publicly known?
