Maybe some info will come out in the next day or two about her "adviser."

That would be interesting, but I think I found out what might contribute to a little of her stage quirkiness. Her favorite female artist is Bjork. She just can't survive emulating that weirdness alone!

I think for most of us, it’s a sliding scale.

I’m so bored. I have 15 minutes of work left. I’ve only got to be here for any emergencies. I think I’ll watch Taz dance around for a while. ;-)

All I know is she better bring it next week! See my problem is my favorite band is RUSH and there is not a soul in this world who thinks Geddy Lee could sing Motown! But I would love to see him try...This is why I like Corky!

Oh that actually explains a lot. LOL Rush is like nails on a chalkboard to me. But I’ve never in my 33 years met a woman who liked Rush.

Believe it or not I had am message board religious discussion with the woman (Donna Halper) who basically introduced RUSH to American radio in Chicago (I think it was...). Yes, she was a flaming liberal nutcase, but no less has great musical taste.

You know music is like Butter Beans, some people like them, some people hate them, but they will never be less of a food source no matter their taste.

OMG, I wrote something and I don't even know what it means?? < /forehead slap!>

Or using his talents for good in the world?

Speaking of using their talents for good in the world, our first American Idol's newest single is called 'I Do Not Hook Up'. Co-written by Kara DioGuardi and sung to perfection by Kelly Clarkson, it's a terrific pop song with a surprisingly anti-smut message. Equally surprising, the song is getting big props from entertainment industry media. As an example, eere's what Entertainment Weekly has to say:

Kelly Clarkson: Entertainer of the Month
With her new album All I Ever Wanted debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's charts and nabbing the second-biggest opening-week sales of 2009, Clarkson has reestablished herself as a pop-music princess — and one of the few American Idol winners who can still deliver a blockbuster. The buzz around Idol, now in its eighth season, may have diminished, but Clarkson's success is a testament to the show's ability to discover true talent.

Buoyed by the ridiculously catchy singles 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and 'I Do Not Hook Up,' Wanted marks Clarkson's welcome return to upbeat tunes after 2007's dreary My December. And at a time when most of her peers seem to be aiming for smut, not smarts...'Hook Up' serves as a refreshingly restrained anthem.

In my estimation a huge part of what American Idol should require from contestants is song writing and arrangement ability, along with singing and voice. If Kelly Clarkson is writing these hit songs with collaboration are others like Cook, Daughtery, and Underwood writting their stuff too? I hope so.

I don't know about Cook and Carrie, but I'm pretty sure Daughtry writes or co-writes some of his songs. Kelly has written or co-written songs on all four of her albums to date. Not every song, but about half of all her material so far. Kelly wrote her Grammy-winning hit 'Because of You' when she was only 16. Not only was it a smash on Pop, but the Reba-Kelly duet version was a smash in the Country genre.

However, Kelly didn't co-write 'Hook Up'. AI judge Kara DioGuardi did, with a couple of other songwriters.

Yeah, we have a few of those 'L's in our extended family too.

On the John Jay and Rich show this afternoon, Paula Abdul says next week’s theme is “#1 Downloads”. That narrows it down a little… (source MJ's blog)

Daughtry writes a lot of his own stuff and Carrie Underwood has recently begun writing/co-writing some songs as well.

I agree. It's too generic.

AMEN. I think every guy I knew in college was a Rush fanatic...I never understood it, and if I ever hear Rush again it will be too soon.

No, what I meant when I said “forced” is that Adam had his wake-up call after he trashed that Johnny Cash song and lost a LOT of his voting bloc. He was “forced” internally to stay within a certain realm of mass appeal in order to stay on the show. Not forced by anyone. I agree with you completely. He is an amazing talent. But he will have to watch it.

After all, HE chose to audition for American Idol. HE knew it was a mainstream show. Camp it up all you want with your friends, but on this show, you need to have a general appeal.

I think the reason Michael bored me is because other than his polite but bold responses to the judges, he had nothing endearing about him and when he sang, it always seemed like he was “singing,” not really into it or feeling it.

Scott no longer belongs there, and I don’t think it’s good for the kids of America (including mine) to see him get such soft reviews from most of the judges because he happens to be blind. It’s making my kids mad that he is NOT being treated fairly. I’m proud of them for feeling that way.

And YES, if Simon says fire your advisors, do it YESTERDAY. Remember he did that with Archuleta, let fly on TV a few things about whoever was “coaching” him (dear old Dad) should stay far away, or something?
