Maybe it's on special delivery. ;-)

LOL! He sent it on the book rate (which means the post office will deliver it between now and 2089).

I can't believe that they couldn't fit the standard 3 songs each into the hour. How long is each song? We usually get, judges pick, Clive Davis' pick and the contestant's pick.

It's all because of Kara. They can't do anything the way they used to (the right way) because every decision they make has to accommodate a useless fourth judge.

For instance, last night Randy couldn't have a pick of his own. He had to share the song with her highness, "Apologize", which was really her choice. And then (predictably) she had to make it all about her.

Rhinestones and Metallica do not go together.

You may not have been in the 70s, where they did, indeed. From what I remember, LOL.

Well, I was 4 in 1979, so I wasn't really big into metal. But the band Metallica was never a glam rock band.

Kris did a far better job with it than Kanye, who actually cannot sing at all (he tried to sing live on SNL this season).

I totally forgot that we used to get Clive’s pick, too.

We couldn’t make any Mr. Burns jokes.

The judges' picks were pretty much a waste -- they didn't show us anything about these three guys that we didn't already know, and the cross-sniping between the judges was ridiculous.

So, I'll just rank them on their own choice, which is more important anyway, a sit shows what they think their strengths are.

  1. Kris -- I didn't know this song (I don't listen to Kanye West if I can avoid it), but I liked this version of it. Started off kind of slow, but once it hit the real tempo, I was grooving along. Excellent job by Kris, and when he really needed it.
  2. Danny -- Probably the best pure singer of the three (see notes below), and he showed it with a beautiful arrangement and rendition of this song. He comes in second the Kris due to Kris having a more contemporary feel.
  3. Adam -- Started off great, but got the the "screechy" stage way too early. There's clearly a place for some screeching in this type of song, but it need to build to it at the end, not spend the last 2/3 of the number doing it. Also, with regard to contemporary "relevance", if this is the style he wants to promote for himself, that ship sailed some 20 years ago.

If based on how the competitors actually performed last night, there's no doubt in my mind that it should be Kris and Danny in the finals. They picked good songs, and performed them very well. Adam wasn't bad, the other two were just better.

The problem here is that each of the remaining three has a real strength, but I'm not sure any of them have the complete package. Adam has excellent range, control, and training, but he lacks the instinct and empathy to be a convincing singer. Danny has a great natural voice with good instincts, but he doesn't really have a contemporary feel. Kris may be the worst (a very relative term) pure singer of the three, but he has the knack of really connecting with a song, and making it both his own and current.

If you could have Adam's skill, Danny's voice, and Kris' artistic sense all rolled into one, you'd have a potential mega-star. I'm just not sure any of the three can completely compensate for their own weak areas, though.

I was going to reply anyway. LOL

"I like fish sticks." ;-)

All the gossip blogs make fun of Kanye's blog. There's a ton of material there. He was complaining about how he looked on some magazine cover and said, "That's some Benjamin Button sh!t, right there!" Another time he was going off and posted, "Why can't they just let Kanye be great?" (yes, he talks about himself in 3rd person)

You know I’ve been an Adam fan (music only), but even I hated that performance.

I'm also a huge Adam fan and found that performance of "One" to be just terrible. Randy was the only judge who got it... or admitted it.

(Frankly I think Simon thought it sucked too... badly enough that he had to beg people to still vote for him regardless.)

It’s not quite elfin..though that’s close..I’ve been puzzling over it for weeks, as well, and tonight, it finally hit me..Adam resembles the “Klingons” from the early Star Trek” TV episodes..

Well, if it's Adam v. Danny, does that make its "Gays v. Gods"

Strong rumor inside the Beltway that if Adam fails to win, Barney Frank is going to hold hearings..

What is it with entertainment types and Africa? Aren't there any other poor people in the world besides Africans? Sheesh!

Slumdog Millionair comes to mind. Showed some pretty grim areas in India.
