I’m a new grandmother. I had my acrylic nails removed a month before my grandson was born because I worried about the possibly of harming him with them. How can a mother with 8 premature newborns even think of stroking their little faces and taking care of them with fake nails?

Even nail polish can be toxic. Most normal moms will let their newborn suck on one of their fingers....but with clean hands and no polish.

I agree w/both of you ladies. I ‘do’ my own natural nails, and when I had newborns, my nails were my last consideration. Infact, I wouldn’t even use polish, and would keep my nails cut/trimmed short so as not to scratch or nick my babies’ delicate skin.

She has preemies (their skin is so frail) and stroking them w/acrylic extentions? No way in my book.
