Crowds of people make me antsy. The children hate to have us go where there are no other people,<<<<
LOL, I always worked with people, so wanted a break and no phones ringing.
Now i tell my old kids how lucky they are that we took them all over the desert when they were young, for most of the places we took them have been closed by the liberals and their lock out programs.
Currently the big paper companies are negotiating with wealthy developers to sell thousands of acres around Moosehead Lake. So far, they have been unable to get the required permits. I am a firm believer in it’s my land, I can sell to whomever I wish, but if these negotiations are successful, the days of pulling up along that magnificent lake to camp, completely alone, in the wilderness will be over. It’s a catch 22.
I, too, worked with people and it was a blessing to finish the day and relax at home away from confusion and complaints. As a postmaster, I was told that I would be the only federal person that would come into daily contact with the people of my community and it was my job to leave a good impression. I had to smile as I told patrons, “no, I can’t tell you if so and so’s check is in her box, or no, I don’t have your Playboy in my office, it will be in your box as soon as I receive it. or a good one, no, you can’t wire your rural box so vandals will receive a shock and a real winner when I delicately told the Postal Inspectors about a gun toting “gentleman” who called me a “fornicating rectum” LOL I truly could write a book, but I survived and really enjoy the peace and quiet of my retirement.
