Senate Democratic leaders announced today a procedural vote at 5:30 p.m. Monday to clear a path to passing the economic stimulus bill. Assuming 60 senators vote yes in that vote, a final Senate vote on the package will be held at noon Tuesday, the lawmakers said.

I agree, Which dem Senator do you think MIGHT say No?
“Can we change 1 or 2 of their minds?”
Actually, I’d love to see this pass, and then Obama and the Dems get TARRED with it after the economy continues to tank.
This bill will hurt the country...but the Dems will hurt it even more if we don’t get some licks in and start removing them. Because the economy is going to tank to depression-levels in any case, this bill almost certainly assures serious Republican gains in 2010...but only if it passes.
As an aside, Snowe and Collins have taken their fax machines off the hook and their email is “over quota.” Not only are they traitors, they’re cowardly traitors.
This bill will destroy the country. ACORN/SEIU will run the elections in 2010 and beyond. Obama wants to bring in hundreds of thousands of muslim refugees - payback to his Saudi handlers. He already signed it to bring in palestinians as many as we can take.
Target their in-state numbers not just DC.
Dems that are weak are Nelson in NE and Mary what’s her name in LA. maybe some Dem in N central states.
Blanche Lincoln, Evan Bayh, Byron Dorgan.
All up for election in 2010. All from states that are likely to have some seriously pissed off constituents.

That is the part that gnaws at me. Maybe, just maybe, we could get that out in conference, but I seriously doubt it.
The leadership should strip these traitors of any sort of leadership positions.
Hell, let them caucus with Harry Reid, where they belong.

What, you mean like the Depression ruined Roosevelt and the 1930s Democratic Party? And check out the 2010 map... almost half of all Republican seats are up, there’s only a few Democrats in seats than are anything but bright, shiny blue, and we’ve got retirements in 5 tossup states to defend.
I hear you...but I almost think that the Dems (knowing full well that the economy is going to tank with or without this “stimulus”) almost want it to fail. Then when it tanks...blame the Reps.
I hate saying this...and still voted for McCain, even for the nightmares he would have brought to the White House (i.e., I still want this to country to survive), but it may take a bill like this to show the people that the Dems don’t have solutions and maybe weaken them a bit in Congress.

Yer frinkcin’ insane. This bill is the culmination of every liberal fantasy that there ever has been... from banning religion from universities, to sending billions to Obama’s brownshirts, to wishlists for every liberal constituency. And like I said, Roosevelt’s abject failure hardly hurt the Democrats, why should Obama’s? The nation clamors towards socialism whenever there’s hardship.

But by then, there won’t be anything left to save. It’s like saying, “Maybe, it’s good if Timmy drowns, then he’ll pay more attention to my water safety lectures.”
You have good points...you win. I agree, let’s kill this thing. Maybe a cleaner version will come out that can still be tied to Obama and sink him.
You would think maybe Mark Begich, but I'm beginning to think that, other than Sarah, the only Republicans up there are RINO's.
Turn up the heat on the newbie, Sarah.
I have already called and emailed both my Republican senators, maybe I should do it again.

Don’t forget the elimination of the E-Verify system. Reid refused to let Sessions bring the amendment up to keep the E-Verify System. He had waited all day, as he was told it would come up and be debated and voted on. Reid, near midnight refused to let him. Said there was no more time. And then saying there would be no amendments allowed on Saturday. And not One Republican Senator OBJECTED.
Don’t forget we have to listen to a Propaganda Push by Obama on Monday Night on all of the Networks to convince everyone that this MUST Pass. Nothing of importance will happen until after that. Hopefully this will be voted down on Tuesday.
I have to believe that the Dems are scared and desperate at this point.
Unfortunately the damage is done thanks to the 3 musketeers, Collins, Snowe and Specter.
At least Senate passage of the American Nationalization Act of 2009 will simply send this to a conference committee. Then we have to hope San Fran Nan remains as recalcitrant as she’s been sounding. Once this bill comes out of conference it will have to be passed again by the House and Senate. What will the poll numbers be on the “stimulus” bill at that point?
