Single malt, as old as you can afford. There are some that are sort of “boutique-ish” and peculiar; Laphroiag springs to mind, too much smoke and peat. Stick with tried and true, such as Macallan.

I didn't think that was possible. Cut with branch water if it's a problem for you.
