WASHINGTON – The company that sells Little Debbie snacks announced a recall Sunday of peanut butter crackers because of a potential link to a deadly salmonella outbreak.

The voluntary recall came one day after the government advised consumers to avoid eating cookies, cakes, ice cream and other foods with peanut butter until health officials learn more about the contamination.

Thank you. I had no idea some cookies were made that way. I think I’ll stick with homemade cookies from now on. :)

Some aren’t even flash browned! I’ve bought cookies in the store and found mold on the surface within two or three days of taking them home. BTW, you have to microwave spomehting for a pretty long time if you want to kill ALL the bacteria and fungi and molds (all micotic pathogens) before eating. Baking a large potato in a microwave for nine minutes produces enough internal steam to sterilize the product. Reheating for two minutes kills very little.

Is the ‘2111’ designation the manufacturing location?

I believe it refers to one Georgia plant.

I was just showing how peanut butter has been suspect for 2 years.

I have one partial jar with a completely different designation number (’1314’), but I do have one with the ‘2111’ on it!

I checked and the Lance peanut butter crackers are not on the re-call list. I guess I could switch to the cheese ones if I was really worried, but my preference is for those orange ones with the peanut butter.

That's good. I don't know the kind you are talking about. What is the difference between "orange" ones and "cheese", would think they are the same? I only ever bought the cheese ones (which are orange), don't know what brand name around here.

One of the best things about being pregnant is the Swiss Cake Rolls. Since I’m fat anyway ;-).

That’s what I usually buy, too. Sounds like you’re fine with freshly-ground peanut butter, especially since you’re nowhere near Georgia.

I’m glad I bought plain vanilla and chocolate ice cream today, though, instead of something with peanut butter. I’d have had to make Bill and Tom eat it first ;-).

I would avoid ANY and ALL Great Value products. Not a one of them has where the product is actually made stamped on them. In general from what I saw of GV food items the stuff looks like culls or seconds anyway. I’m also glad when my wife pointed out to me the bargain big pack Austin PB&C’s last time at the store I picked up Frito Lays instead. I buy for quality when it comes to food. I avoid Walmart fresh meats entirely. All of it beef included is Tyson.

Trying to understand your last sentence. Are you saying Walmart beef is processed by Tyson?

I saw the boxes with my own two eyes. I was in an East Tennessee Wally World and I shop late at night. I saw the stockers taking the raw packaged meat {ground beef, roast, steak, etc} out of Tyson labeled and unopened till that time boxes.

Oh, I know. I’m 48 myself.

I do recall seeing Lance products here and there at convenience stores. Not a big brand here in MN. I’ll have to keep an eye out for their products. I love my snacks! :)

BTW I’d question Ingles now as well Their fresh chicken is exclusive Tyson. I protested to the butcher he said we now only carry Tyson Chicken. After I walked off he said to another one must be a full moon.

Lance makes all kinds, at least a half-dozen different kinds of crackers. The “orange” ones are marked “Toast-Chee” Peanut Butter. Those are the only orange ones. They make a round lite colored cracker with Peanut Butter in them too. They also have ones that are whole wheat crackers with cheddar cheese, some with Cream Cheese, and I can’t remember what other kinds, but several more including a box that is a variety of all the different kinds.
