Very beautiful photos. I’m hoping to get some good bird photos in the Everglades next month.

Breeding season will be coming on down there, all kinds of opportunities.

Kestrels are hard to catch sometimes. It seems they never hold still for long !

Thanks to the Walter Reed Freepers from me, also. I am a graduate of that place. I spent seven weeks there in 1968 as a patient. I didn’t go to Vietnam, but at WRAMC I was surrounded by veterans of the Tet offensive. Ike was there, too, for his last stay. Humbling.

Great shot of the sparrow hawk/kestrel. There is a little sharp shinned hawk here that eats English sparrows in the summer, when it can hide in the pecan tree. I haven’t been able to get a photo of it yet. Patience in all things. We’ve had lows in the low 30’s/ high twenties here in South Central Texas. It makes me want to swim the river against traffic and go live in Mexico again.

That Kestrel is a beauty, and the drake Mallard is always gorgeous.

Can you imagine your life without noticing nature in your midst? I know I can't.

Those are the ducks I remember feeding as a child from our lagoon front house. Thanks!

I was so surprised to see an American kestrel sitting on my Phoenix backyard fence about a week ago.

He was making a meal of a little Inca dove! The kestrel must be wintering here.

He was the spit ‘n’ image of your photo.

See #83...I sent a private reply so did not copy you!

Freepers thank the DC Chapter all the time...we ought to keep a list. Maybe we should ask if they want a ping to some of our reports. Maybe they already are and that is why they comment???
