Talk Radio Network to pre-feed the Michael Savage Show - setting up a showdown with Rush

In a move to take advantage of the ending of the Westwood’s Bill O'Reilly Show, Talk Radio Network is planning on establishing a “pre-feed” of the Michael Savage Show from 12-3pm ET, a move that puts Savage up head-to-head against Rush Limbaugh. Talk Radio Network CEO Mark Masters says “Besides being ranked as the third largest syndicated talk show in the U.S., Savage has the unique distinction of being the only nationally syndicated male talk radio show host to have proven to equal Rush Limbaugh in that unique ability to create giant numbers…” The news of the Savage Nation pre-feed comes as Savage recently inked a contract extension with TRN to syndicate his show.

Now I don't know if this means Michael will do his show live from 9-noon San Fran time or if it's a rerun on previous day's show or whatever, but Talk Radio Network is making a "pre-feed" of Savage Nation available at noon-3 pm ET to stations that want it. Perhaps in your town you might have the option of hearing Savage instead of Rush (if they're on diff. stations; I get the idea that Rush's syndicators --Premiere--would frown on his affiliates tape delaying him in favor of MS should that station carry both)

In anticipation of O'Reilly leaving, there are also shows soon to be launched with Fred Thompson and Michael Smerconish (though Smersh's NY station, WOR, will tape delay him till 8)

How many stations is Savage on verses Rush’s 600?

Rush listeners are not Savage listeners and vice versa.

“Pre-fed” sounds better than, “the regulars from all these years get delayed and screwed”.

I understand that. But Rush and Savage are like oil and water in many issues.

Well, Savage is one less station now that my local talker dumped him.

Way I see it this move will actually hurt Savage’s ratings, but we’ll see how it plays out.

Savage needs to start working on his excuse as to why a 12-3 airing of his show failed. I’m sure he’ll blame the stations or the media.

I'd listen to Savage over Rush.

When Rush refers to people like Bill Ayers and his ilk as “leftists”, it's enough to make me hurl. Rush makes these people sound as non-threatening as Norwegians.

When Savage uses the word “Bolshevik”, I mentally say, “YEAH! Call them what they are!”

Savage is an ugly caricature of a conservative.

I agree! I with Savage! He’s been calling the enemies of freedom what they are ( Bolsheviks) for years now.

I was always tolerable of Savage till he trashed Sarah Palin, the only Conservative on either ticket!

Rush’s listeners don’t listen to that drooling nutjob. Michael Weiner is no competition for a professional like Rush.

In Boston I doubt there will be a change; WRKO airs Rush at noon and Savage at 7 and they’ll probably keep it that way
(Savage runs tape delayed at 10 pm or so when there’s a
Red Sox game, too). But I can imagine a radio market where
a station that used to run Savage at 6 pm ET—and they don’t
have Rush—would then run him at noon to go right up against
Rush (what does Michael call him, “the Golfer”? I don’t
listen to MS much, maybe a few minutes at a time...)
