We learn that he grew up without a father.
He sings "You're Not Alone."
Not familiar with this one either, but it's good.
Simon: You're not the best singer in this competition. I think you know that. But you made up for it with passion, heart. You gave it 110%.
Randy: Tonight, so far, you're definitely one of the best.
Kara: This one really showed you can hit those notes. You're serious. You bring your game.
Paula: So many things you've got going for you. You're likable. You're an ordinary guy. You picked a song that's perfect for you. You sounded really lovely tonight.
One wonders if the thoughts behind stage this week were “Oh Crap Michael jackson week? Don’t they know he is banned? Oh well...let me find some song no one knows...GOD knows, I dont want to PO the FReepers!”
;-)
It looks like everyone looked for songs that are not mainstream.
Actually, I think it is a pretty good strategy (Simon notwithstanding). If you do a signature MJ song, you will be compared to him when he was great.
I'm genuinely pleased that our Wichita Lineman got raves from the judges tonight.
I should also add that Danny and Michael are antidotes to the dose of crotch-grabbing queen we’ll probably get when Adam arrives on stage.
