Up first will be Von Smith.
And in the pimp spot, as predicted, Lil Rounds.
Ya know... we’re —>| |<-— this close to 10K posts and we still don’t even have the top twelve ID’d yet. We must be bored to be so chatty.
zzzzz re:Von.
They're not even trying not to show favoritism.
Lil Rounds?
That news makes me a Lil ill.
Who?
We're reminded by her video that the judges thought she was very cute during her audition. "Cute as a button!" And she is.
But for some reason, Arianna chooses to rebel against her good looks. She says she doesn't want to "look like a button".
So she chooses to sing a funeral dirge of a song: ABBA's "Winner Takes It All"
It's sad and boring ... until she starts hitting the power notes at the end of the song. But even then it's weak.
Simon: A certain irony to that lyric. Absolutely terrible in most parts. Huge mistake. Way too big to for you. Like being at a funeral, the first half. Dreary arrangement. Didn't work at all. Your worst performance by a mile. (mild boos from audience).
Randy: Wasn't the right song for you, baby.
Kara: You were like a beam of sunshine (in her audition). Tonight it was dark, depressing. Not who you are as a person. Look at that face.
Paula: Bright moments to the song. Do believe the song was a little old fashioned. Sometimes it's just better to stick to the melody.
He sings Meat Loaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love". LOL!
Remember last week, when I said Norman Gentle's performance might be the gayest thing you'll ever see? I take that back.
He looks like he's doing aerobics in 1980's excercise video.
Simon: I think you probably would [do anything for love]. Virging on excruciating. Awful Olvia Newton-John headband. Terrible song choice. You actually are fun.
Randy: Curious song choice. Of all the songs ... You definitely can sing. Don't know what kind of record we would make with you.
Kara: You got a voice. If you want to be taken seriously choose a more serious song. We need to see a different side of you.
[Seacrest runs over to Nathanial's grandmother in the audience--he asks her what she thought of his performance]
Grandma: (shrugs) Yeah. I'm used to his music.
(laughter)
Paula: You know I love you. This song was more like the Boy George version of the song. Have to be real wise choosing your songs.
