I love the Giver, also I like her book Counting the Stars. Both of these I read aloud to my 4th graders.

Artie Johnson

No. I confused Artie with this other guy. I want to say his name was Paul ____??? He was a short, long blond hair man. I think I saw him on the Mike Douglas show sometimes and either Laugh In or the Smother's Bros. I can't remember exactly what his talent was except for maybe on the comedic side.

Great find though!

Paul Williams? He used to be on The Muppet Show all the time. I know an embarrassing amount of info about The Muppet Show.

Good find! His name was driving me crazy since ‘Paul’ did ring a bell, but I came up empty at IMDB!

The thing that bothered me about the end was how it just sort of stopped. I kept wondering did he die? Was is a mirage? Was that a new family? Then in Messenger they don’t really pick up the story, but it lets you know what happened to Jonas. I’m trying to be vague in case anyone is reading or wants to read it.

Messenger I didn’t like the ending because I didn’t want that to happen even though I saw it coming. LOL

I really love the audio version of The Giver. You know how you can’t imagine anyone but Jim Dale reading the Harry Potter books? That’s how this The Giver audio is, too.

For years they have been trying to get it made into a movie, but it hasn’t worked out yet. At IMDB, it just says, “Pre-production, 2011.”

I had the impression that they were only picking 3. That’s bad news for us because we could be left with the dreaded Tatiana in the finals. That’s a train wreck in the making.

By the logic I cited previously, I'd be willing to bet heavily that Tatiana will be a Top 12 contestant, following in the Kellie Pickler / Sanjaya / Mikaylah / etc. mold. (Yes, I know Kellie has been successful, but while on the show, she was simply painful...)

It's TV show, and they have their own ideas of what is "entertaining", and that includes Tatiana's mental instability. The kicker is that she actually does have some talent (q.v. Pickler) so they can completely justify her being there, as opposed to Norman, who'd be completely pandering to the "reality" lowest common denominator. In any event, there's little danger of such a "joke" actually winning, although it is arguable that Taylor Hicks may have been a "joke" that got out of their control.

I didn't forget! My punching bag...

My first boxing related injury...(I think I just had the wrap on too tight, but I'm totally counting it, because saying, "I hurt myself boxing" makes me feel tough)

I understand completely - I can’t watch the news either.

I did read about the lady who was severely injured by the chimp and is now in Cleveland Clinic, however. Prayers for her long recovery.

I told someone else here I am watching old “House” reruns, old movies, “House Hunters” (some people are so picky about their prospective houses!)and now I am watching my box set of “Lost” Season 1 and 2 all over again!

And doing a lot of praying about our country.

I don’t know what I’d do without HGTV! House Hunters is my favorite - all the real estate shows are great.

American Idol: Clay Aiken Dumped By Record Company?

http://www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/american-idol-clay-aiken-dumpe-26486.aspx

Something mysterious happened at the official website of RCA, the record label that’s carried Aiken for the past few years or so. Suddenly, his name is no longer on the RCA website, with his artist page and message board going poof all of a sudden, and users being redirected to an unofficial fan site. His name has also disappeared in press materials the label released leading to the recently-concluded Grammy Awards. And then there’s his no-show at the launching of the American Idol Experience, the new attraction at Walt Disney World.

This thing’s happened to other Idol alumni who were also dropped by RCA, namely runners-up Blake Lewis and Katharine McPhee. So, observers and fans are wondering, after five albums and millions of sold units, could Clay Aiken be on the way out, too?

Well, I will say the ending for the Giver is good from my perspective because I ask my students to write how they think it would end. Great writing assignment. But I know what you mean, I hate to be left with an unsettling feeling with a book.

Jim Dale reads the Peter and the Starcatchers series, and does a great job with the audio. I love his voice.

At least Kellie Pickler could sing. Even Sanjaya, could carry a tune.

This Tatiana chick basically screams out her songs and think she’s God’s gift to singing.

It’s painful!

Oh well...the bad news is you could be right. Her “antics” may lead the producers to think it would be entertaining to put her into the top 12.

Thank God they invented a “mute” button.

David Cook, performing at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Clair, sings a song from the unreleased indie album he was working on when he auditioned for Idol. It’s called Honest When You’re Sleeping

They just showed one of those Obama memorial coin commercials, I had an idea. What if we got people to call and when they asked if we wanted to order the Obama coin we say ‘no, but, we were wondering if they had any Bush memorial coins available’. I know they are $20 but it might be a nice way to show our non support of Obama and support for President Bush at the same time. Anyway, it was just a thought.
