The thing that bothered me about the end was how it just sort of stopped. I kept wondering did he die? Was is a mirage? Was that a new family? Then in Messenger they don’t really pick up the story, but it lets you know what happened to Jonas. I’m trying to be vague in case anyone is reading or wants to read it.

Messenger I didn’t like the ending because I didn’t want that to happen even though I saw it coming. LOL

I really love the audio version of The Giver. You know how you can’t imagine anyone but Jim Dale reading the Harry Potter books? That’s how this The Giver audio is, too.

For years they have been trying to get it made into a movie, but it hasn’t worked out yet. At IMDB, it just says, “Pre-production, 2011.”

Well, I will say the ending for the Giver is good from my perspective because I ask my students to write how they think it would end. Great writing assignment. But I know what you mean, I hate to be left with an unsettling feeling with a book.

Jim Dale reads the Peter and the Starcatchers series, and does a great job with the audio. I love his voice.
