Back when I was young and could get away with wearing pink hair, I wouldn't have had the courage to do it...now that I'm older, I have less inhibitions about things like that but I'd look ridiculous!

My youngest daughter had pink streaks in her hair her senior year of high school until someone complained that she wasn't representing her school favorably (she was a cheerleader) and so the athletic director told her the pink had to go. She complied but only because she had already decided she was tired of it and had made an appt. to get it removed. I thought it looked cute myself. Funny thing was, she had pink in her hair the year before and no one complained!

Kelly looked cute from a distance. It looked like a cute 50's/60's style. In the close up pictures I don't care for it.

I love Kelly to death but, like Kelly fans everywhere, will freely admit she has absolutely no fashion sense whatsoever. She's only a little over 5'3" and has a normal young woman's curvy body. So Kelly is hopelessly out of step in a show biz (and fashion) world where anorexic (androgynous) thinness is considered the ideal way a woman should look. Not helping matters is the fact that Kelly has an unusually wide jaw line for a woman.

All of these factors help the camera make her look heavier than she actually is most of the time. Kelly fans everywhere keep hoping she'll hire a good stylist and makeup artist to help her avoid fashion miscues. The little black dress is nowhere near the worst of her outfit choices. But she's happy being who she is, and just wants to make good music. :)

Thing is, nearly all women with Kelly's body type do have weight problems when they either have children and/or hit middle age. It's a shame the 20-somethings never listen to older women who tell them to get into good diet and exercise regimens while they're young. Taking weight off is always harder than to avoid putting it on in the first place.

Frumpy is a good word for it. She’s a really cute girl, but it’s just not a flattering dress.

LOL! I feel the same way. Unless you are in a band or are a tattoo artist, there is a very small window when pink hair doesn't look goofy. It's from about 14-22.

I've never been shy about doing things to my hair, but at 33 and working in an office, I'd just look stupid. LOL My natural hair is dark brown and I have a very unnatural shade of cherry red highlights in it. One of the AI girls has all her hair colored a very similar shade to my highlights. That's about as wild as I can get and still look some what respectable.

Taking weight off is always harder than to avoid putting it on in the first place.

You are preaching to the choir. (wild tangent/rant ahead) I lost 59 pounds, gained about 15 back. After New Year's, I cut flour, most starches (I had boiled potatoes once when I went to a German restaurant), and refined sugar out.

I've lost a whopping 4 pounds. FOUR! Yes, it's better then gaining, but when I was younger I could drop 4 pounds in about 9 hrs.

I think I am just going to give up and just eat whatever. Then you all can watch me when TLC does a documentary, World's Heaviest FR Poster: RetroKitten's Story. We'll do a live thread.

She's only a little over 5'3" and has a normal young woman's curvy body.

She has a little more ballast south of the border. She already compensates for this by sleeveless, off the shoulder, one strap etc. It draws the eye up and away from the bottom. She is muscular and solid. She should avoid skin tight pants or those that taper, too much towards the ankle. Boot cut or straight cut would probably be best. I like her regardless, but, I know from some of her interviews that she struggles with her weight.

So Kelly is hopelessly out of step in a show biz (and fashion) world where anorexic (androgynous) thinness is considered the ideal way a woman should look.

I have a theory on this. What happens if you are too thin? To be more precise, what doesn't happen, if you are too thin??

Not helping matters is the fact that Kelly has an unusually wide jaw line for a woman.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing and be helped a bit with makeup.

In show biz and the fashion world, nothing. Unfortunately. Personally, I think the ultra-thin androgynous look is pushed by all the gay men in show biz and fashion. They keep trying to make women look like young boys.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing and can be helped a bit with makeup.

Depending on the camera angle -- and whether or not we're talking about a professional promo shot or live shot -- Kelly's jaw line does hurt her appearance. It's very wide at the back of the jaw line and tapers to a typical small Caucasian female chin. This has the effect of making her cheeks seem "fat."

From Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party 2/6/09. Pretty in profile:

"Fat" from the front:

The complete look:

Don't get me wrong. I adore Kelly and don't give a rip how she dresses or what her weight is. But we live in a world of shallow people, and she gets criticized constantly about how she dresses and how "fat" she is. My guess is she probably weights between 120 and 125. It's tragic for many young girls and women with an average height and body type like Kelly's that anything above 115 is considered "fat."

Link to the Joanna photos in the New York Post.

I don't think we need to post all six shots. People who are interested can click the link to see them. I'll just post the most model-like one. All six shots are no different from what you can see in any Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

PS re Joanna: She's a yawn for me, but let me put it this way. She's an improvement over Fantasia.

Have you guys noticed how Fantasia's legs actually bend the wrong way at the knee? I've never seen legs that curve backwards like that. Weird.

And while folks are focusing on Kelly's black shirtwaist dress, what the does Fantasia have on her feet?!

Who is that?

LOL! The singer in my band. So this chick shows up for a singing audition with the band. She's got beautiful blond hair, and can sing the tarnation out of "Zombie." (I didn't even like the song, but she made me it like after she sang it!) We hired her to be our singer, and the next thing we know, the day we go out for a photo shoot, she shows up in pink-ass hair!!

I'm totally in love with her, in a musical sort of way. She also rocks, "You Oughta Know" (Alanis Morrissette) and I've never seen so many woman in one place trying to out sing her on that song, but they all try to go for it. It's hilarious!

Why pink???? I don't exactly know, but she was about 28 or 29 in that pic. Is she getting away with it there? Women used to always ask her about it, usually right in the middle of a song?! She actually would change the lyrics to tell some girl, "I'll tell ya in a minute, Beeach!" LOL!

I've never been in a band in my life where I've actually seen the guys lined up at the bar directly "watching" the band instead of eyeing other chicks, except now that's exactly what happens! LOL!
