These days they are deliberately cutting more talented people just to keep the "right" mix of race, ethnic background, and gender.

Thing is, because the producers insist on an equal number of males and females, some good male singers might go to let some not-so-good gals in.

That's the case every year and I've always felt they should just take the best 36, 24 or whatever and not worry about how many men vs how many women. Just take the best.

That's why I posted a few days back that this setup could be a disaster because if a bunch of really good people are in the same group then some really good people will get cut and they could put a bunch of crappy people in another group and three crappy people would be in the yop 12, while a bunch of really good people were sent packing. I don't like this format at all.

I have the same problem... I just adore “Life” and here it is head-to-head with Idol. Darn!!! Tonight I am skipping the second hour of Idol (since I know I will have Jonny’s awesome updates to read!) but this could be a Real Problem later in the season!
