I think it’s on YouTube - worth a look...
I don’t think I disagree with any of that column. Kara isn’t bad. She’s just not so great that it makes any sense for her to be there. And Paula should be annoyed, and nervous.
I still think Jackson knew better and should have spoken up. I thought he looked uncomfortable with where the conversation was going, because I think he knew the others were making a big thing out of nothing. jmo
American Idol has apologized for suggesting an auditioneer had threatened the show’s judges after being denied a golden ticket to Hollywood.
“We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the misinterpretation of the contestant’s comment to ‘be careful’ upon completion of his audition in Louisville, KY,” the show announced in a statement released on its americanidol.com website.
The apology came a week after last Wednesday’s episode of the show’s Louisville auditions showed 25-year-old Mark Mudd telling the judges to “be careful” as he said goodbye after being mildly ridiculed for his performance of George Jones’ “White Lightning.”
“All right. Take care and be careful,” said Mudd as he began leaving the audition room.
“Be careful?” a shocked Paula Abdul replied.
“Be careful in whatever you do,” Mudd clarified.
“What?” a confused Abdul said.
“I’m just saying, be careful in whatever you do,” Mudd repeated.
“That was a threat,” Simon Cowell muttered as he looked at the other judges.
“Was that a threat? That was a threat,” Abdul said back to Mudd.
“No, I’m just saying, just be careful, you know, in whatever you do,” Mudd repeated yet again.
“Well, you don’t say that to people. You don’t say that to people, ‘be careful.’ That’s not a normal thing to say to people,” a concerned Abdul said.
“I was just sayin’...” Mudd said as he turned and walked out of the room.
What Abdul, Cowell and fellow Idol judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi were apparently unaware of was the fact that the term “be careful” is often used as a parting expression in many areas of the south.
“Our visits to audition cities are relatively brief and sometimes regional greetings and salutations are lost in translation,” American Idol said in the statement. We had not heard that phrase from any other contestants during the day, so it took everyone by surprise. We now know better and look forward to visiting Louisville again.”
Abdul and Mudd’s Louisville exchange occurred before the events involving Paula Goodspeed, a former American Idol auditioneer and alleged obsessed Abdul fan who committed suicide in her car outside of the singer’s California house last November.
Similar to the show’s previous seasons, American Idol’s eighth-season semifinalists were selected earlier this month at a special taping in which the final 50 contestants from the Hollywood Week round which took place in November were flown back to California to learn whether they’d been selected as one of this season’s Top 36 semifinalists.
However unlike other recent seasons, American Idol’s broadcasts of the eighth season’s Hollywood Week round will run for two weeks, not one.
American Idol’s Hollywood Week coverage will begin with next week’s one-hour Tuesday and Wednesday broadcasts and continue with the following week’s one-hour Tuesday broadcast. Then, on Wednesday, February 11, Fox will air a special two-hour broadcast in which the final 50 contestants will face their “final judgement” and the season’s Top 36 semifinalists will be formally revealed.
Idol’s eighth season is the first season to ever feature 36 semifinalists and the first season since the show’s 2004 third season to utilize a “Wild Card” semifinals round. Idol had previously featured 24 semifinalists since its fourth season in 2005. Prior to that, Idol’s second and third seasons had featured 32 semifinalists while its first season had featured 30 semifinalists.
Once the semifinalists are revealed, they will be grouped into three groups of twelve and Idol will begin three weeks of broadcasts in which twelve semifinalists will perform during two-hour pre-taped Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT performance episodes and the results of the subsequent home viewer voting will be revealed during live one-hour results shows airing Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT.
At the conclusion of each results show, the male and female semifinalists who received the highest number of home viewers votes for their previous night’s performance will instantly become a Top 12 finalist. In addition, another semifinalist that had received the next-highest number of votes after the performance episode — regardless of whether he or she is male or female — will also become a finalist.
Then on Thursday, March 5, Fox will air a special “Wild Card” performance episode in which each semifinalist group’s highest remaining votegetter who didn’t already automatically advance to the finals will get a second chance to perform along with several additional semifinalists that the judges will select.
After all the “Wild Card” semifinalists perform, the judges — not the show’s home viewers — will immediately select three of them to complete the season’s twelve finalists.
American Idol’s eighth-season Top 12 finalists will then take the stage for the first time on Tuesday, March 10, with one finalist’s journey coming to an end the following night.
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT
The following link tells who the top 36 (allegedly) are: The site that posted them got the top 36 right last year, so there is a high probability that the list is correct.
Thanks for the ping! It will be interesting to see how Paula and Kara interact when it is a live show.
Donny Osmond does some fancy footwork (covering his verbal tracks)
Donny Osmond “definitely not” participating in ‘Dancing’s next edition
Donny Osmond definitely won’t be going Dancing with the Stars — at least not on the show’s upcoming spring installment.
“I’m definitely not doing this upcoming season,” Osmond told Entertainment Tonight in a Wednesday report. “If there was an offer on the table, I’d do it in the fall. I would make room for it. Absolutely!”
Earlier this month, Osmond began claiming that he was “considering” participating in Dancing with the Stars eighth season, which premieres March 9.
However due to his headlining act at Las Vegas’ Flamingo hotel with sister Marie, a source subsequently told former Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous host Robin Leach that “there just wasn’t sufficient advance lead time to change the time of their Flamingo show and the schedules of everybody involved with it.”
But Donny’s Dancing with the Stars saga didn’t end there. During a Monday taping of Tuesday’s episode of The Bonny Hunt Show, he indicated that he was likely to be participating in the show’s spring edition after all.
“Well I guess I am making an announcement. I’ll say I am seriously considering doing it, let’s put it that way,” Osmond told Hunt with a laugh. “I guess I just let the cat out of the bag!”
“I can’t let my sister [Marie Osmond] upstage me,” he continued. “Besides, who do you think taught her how to dance?”
“It is going to be very difficult because I am going to be doing Vegas on top of doing Dancing with the Stars.”
Seemingly aware that ABC doesn’t look kindly on potential participants prematurely discussing their involvement, Osmond quickly clarified his comments.
“I did The Bonnie Hunt Show today and I alluded to the fact that I am considering doing Dancing with the Stars,” he told ET Monday evening. “After all I can’t let Marie upstage me, however, there is no official offer yet.”
ABC — which never comments on casting reports prior to each season’s cast announcement — is expected to reveal Dancing with the Stars’ eighth-season cast in February.
Thanks much for the ping!
I wish Paula and Kara would get replaced...just l~EVE~ aready!! you 2... The quicker AI faces it,the better!
*Play on words answer...:) but it also works as to how I feel about them...P A & K... (whatever her last name is.)
Randy I’m okay with,he’s better this year,he can stay, but I may change my thoughts about him staying on as a judge, if he reverts back to prior years oustworthyness.
& I know he wasn’t part of it,I’m just sayin’,while on the subject.

Thanks for the ping, Miss Didi. Like thousands of others, apparently, I can't stand Kara.
The 'All About Eve' reference is delicious, not just because the story fits the current AI situation, but because four actresses from that film were nominated for Oscars. Bette Davis and Anne Baxter for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Neither won as their nominations divided the votes. Also, Celeste Holm and Thelma Ritter for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Neither won, also because their nominations divided the vote.
Seems both Paula and Kara could learn something from the real life experiences of the actresses in 'All About Eve'. :)
You, sir, know women! Or at least me! LMAO The only thing missing are bags of assorted chips (Doritos, Tostidos, Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard Pretzel Bits).
They aren't officially divorced yet, but she's been in St. Lucia for quite a while and does look healthier.
The funny part is she's taken out her extensions and has a short curly bob. Every time I look at her I think she looks like someone who would do hair out of her house.
Yes, I try to keep them around 2"-2 3/4". I will go 3" if I absolutely cannot live without the shoes, but that is my limit.
This time of year I don't wear heels that often because of the snow and ice.
Yet no one sang, "I Feel Pretty" or "America." :-(
I saw it! It was super freaky!
I might have mentioned it before, but I really, really don’t like people in big costumes (like mascots) coming near me.
Had that kid in the mouse costume come near me wearing that thing he would have got a pointy red patent leather heel to the face!
RK don’t play.
I tend to agree with the article. This is to transition Kara in and Paula out.
I also think Simon wants to move on. British shows have a very short life span compared to American shows. So this is probably a lifetime to him.
Some of the top 36 at that link I pray are wrong!
LOL! Dang, would that hurt or what!?
ROTFLMAO!! Ok, so this is gonna sound strange, but I think I know the "Squirrel Smuggler." If it's who I think it is, I've never seen one man eat so much spaghetti in my life!
Didn't she have a third breast or something significant like that at one time?
Wrapped all up in that Saran Wrap dress you can just picture a package of tender loin.
