Yeah, he clearly needs the help of AI. Contestants like this really bother me.

I understand being a little bit “in the business”, but this kid is clearly not an amateur.

Korbee’s- on my bad list. I don’t even remember them (or if we’ve even seen them yet), but something tells me they will be annoying. If you are signed by the William Morris Agency, why are you on AI????

Scott MacIntyre just sounds like an over-achiever. I can understand being profiled on different news shows, because a blind kid who plays music (and judging from his list of achievements, is extremely smart, too) is a good human interest story. For some reason, I’m more apt to give him a pass. Maybe it’s because he’s been furthering his education. Don’t know, but he doesn’t bother me as much as some of the others.

Looks like Donny and Marie’s nephew doesn’t really need their coattails. He has his own and has for quite some time. Just another plant.

Have we seen him in the auditions yet? I record the episodes and skip through them pretty fast, so maybe I missed him? If you saw his audition, what do you think? Is he any good?

They signed with both Curb Records and Epic/Sony in Europe. They have had three songs in the top 40 in the U.K.

How come he gets on the show when he already has (had ?) a record deal? This 2007 article says, "He’s a member of the singing Osmond family dynasty, and a star in his own right." The article is about David's bout with West Nile Virus, which affected his immune system. And this 2008 article says he's been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease his father has. So maybe his European record contract expired while he was battling his illness. Who knows. But he is a professional, not an unknown amateur, and I think it hurts the show's credibility.

I understand being a little bit “in the business”, but this kid is clearly not an amateur.

At 28 or 29 (depending on when his birthday is), he's not even a kid. But you just watch...his illness is going to be pushed into the audience's faces to try to make people feel sorry for him. From some of the clips on YouTube, he is seriously talented. Best male vocalist I've heard on AI, and I could really enjoy his music. Superior range, pitch, sense of rythmn, stage presence, etc. Check out this clip on YouTube.

Talent-wise, he definitely belongs. Fairness wise, not so much. He doesn't need AI to become a success, although maybe he's using AI to get his career back on track after his illness. I'd rather see him make it without AI, and leave AI to the kids who really need a break.

Anyway, that clip I linked was from 2004, before he got sick. If MS has not dulled his talent, this guy is a lock for the top 30 (or whatever the number is this year). Then we'll see if the AI voting audience resents him or keeps him on the show.

I call anyone younger then me a kid. LOL

Oh, I'm sure we'll hear all about his illness. This years theme seems to be "the sob story".

Yeah. Like I told Jonny, my heartstrings are already stretched beyond capacity. I can't decide which is worse, the beg-a-thons or sob-storyitis. Blech!

Should be interesting. I want to see just how honest the judges/producers are going to be about this guy's professional and family background.

It would seem that when AI said they would be showing more background, they meant sob stories.

They haven’t shown his clips yet, to my knowledge. Maybe during the Hollywood rounds.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: Taylor Hicks and Justin Guarini

Although both were dropped by their labels when their post-AI albums flopped, they are finding some measure of success elsewhere in show biz.

Taylor Hicks as 'Teen Angel' in the Broadway production of 'Grease'.

Justin Guarini hosts a show about AI on the TV Guide Channel and blogs about the show on http://www.fancast.com/

Justin is getting married this summer to his high school girlfriend. According to the linked article, Justin and his 26-year-old fiance, Reina Capodici, were an item in high school. They couple lost touch, then rekindled their romantic relationship in 2007.

I started to laugh (well I did I laugh :), but that's not a bad gig. At least it's on Broadway. And it seems to suit him.

Meanwhile, Guarini will be sharing a house with Mickey Dolenz and Richard Grieco on CMT's Gone Country 3 LOL!

Finding out she was one of those overly dramatic and precocious theater children makes me want to kick her with a pointy boot.

LMAO!

I watched that! It seems like each season they have a former AI person on it. Diana DeGarmo, Mikalah Gordon and now Justin Guarini.
