Parents upset after Merced elementary teacher asks students to shave his face Young girls say teacher had them shave his beard, then told them not to tell anyone about it.
Although the events occurred in the third week of November, a letter from Principal Nolan Harris about his investigation wasn't sent home until Dec. 12. It read, in part:
"As you may be aware, the last week before the Thanksgiving break, Mr. McLane had the class participate in a face-shaving activity with an electric razor as a story starter for a writing assignment. He later instructed the students that if they told they would not have a Christmas Party. Needless to say, that instruction was inappropriate and was not well received by several parents, staff or the Administration. On behalf of myself and the District, we want to apologize to the students and parents."

Helen Thomas is asked to do this by the White House Press Corp, so what’s the big deal?

I thought they asked Helen to shaver her butt and walk on her hands. It would scare fewer people that way.

Dr. Julia Johnson, a licensed educational psychologist in Southern California, said the event could lead to deep anxiety and confusion among the children in the classroom.

The shaving might have been harmless...telling the kids not to tell though...
kids should be taught that when they are told not to tell their parents something, then they should tell mom and dad immediately.

If he intended it as harmless, he wouldn’t have cared about the kids talking about it.
He was indulging a fantasy, IMO. And he realized it, or why would he have tried to keep it hidden.
I don’t think the kids will be traumatized for life, but I wouldn’t have wanted one of my kids ordered to act out some perv’s fantasy life. I don’t think anyone is overreacting. We don’t need these kind of “teachers.”

Oh and note, he had the “young girls” do it. Why didn’t the boys need a story starter?

Too bad it leaked out. The next assignment had something to do with hot wax.
To: vivalaoink
Look on the bright side. He didn’t have them shave his butt.

Yeah, a straight razor would’ve made a better story. And head lines like, “Student Cuts Class”.

The boy consented to the face shaving I suppose? If they hog tied him and shaved him while he was screaming objections, that’s another thing.
