Constant Crashes under iwork. Downloading updates as we speak. Safari also chokes on web sites as frequently as IE, which I did not expect with OS X.

I'm sorry you are having such issues. They do NOT represent the experiences of the numerous Mac users I know and support. I think your machine has a hardware problem that is unrelated to OS X. I have never experienced a crash of any iWork application and while there are some web pages that are Windows only, my experience is that 99.9% of webpages are now pretty much Mac compliant.

Have Mrs. Doc take her computer to her Apple class and show them what websites are choking. Let the Geniuses look at the crashes of iWork.

I do not think it is a hardware problem, I did a google search, the iwork crashing issue is discussed on multiple forums. Mrs. Doc finished the updates after I went to bed last night. I’ll find out how iwork is working later this morning. I’m hoping that I’ll have things fixed today. I haven’t had a windows problem that google and I couldn’t fix, I’m not letting the worlds easiest computer get the best of me. The geniuses are 45 miles away and I really don’t expect to need their services.

This was not an occasional blip, ipage was crashing so frequently that she couldn’t finish a page. My daughter who loves Mac and uses it at school everday thought that was normal behavior for ipage. Apparantly the technology teacher instructs the student to save every five minutes while they are doing their typing at school because of frequent crashes.

I have to admit that once I found the update feature on OS X, it was slick, every available update for all installed software in one spot. Unfortunately the whole reason for buying a Mac for Mrs. Doc was so that I would not be looking for upgrade features in the middle of the night.

I was not aware that there were windows only web pages. Interesting concept, I’ll have to look into that.

Happy New Year Swordmaker!

Wifey is happy owner of a 13”MacBook...she’s really enjoying it, nice and fast.

In the meantime, what do you know about FireFox crashing when viewing videos and pictures? Been reading much about it on the firefox support website, however, their site doesn’t seem to address the issues. I have all the latest versions, addons etc.

Any thoughts?

G
