In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
zany • \ZAY-nee\ • noun
1. a subordinate clown or acrobat in old comedies who mimics ludicrously the tricks of the principal
2. one who acts the buffoon to amuse others
3. a foolish, eccentric, or crazy person *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
My brother's friends are an unpredictable bunch of zanies.

Ludacris is hosting an Urban Ball in honor of the coronation of the first foreign born President of the United States, so if Ludacris acts ludicrous is that zany?
If the zany voters of Minnesota want a zany guy like Al Franken to represent them....then screw ‘em.
The most zany way to end my year is this way: with vertigo. Struck me at 3:20 am. waited until 5:30 to drive to hospital. Valium and some anti-nausea meds helped for a while. But the word, she be spinning again. And all I’m doing is sitting still...
Well, she’s was going to be the second ordained princess (er, Senator) of zaNY after St Hillary, but somehow, when she opened her mouth in public , er, well, you know, that is, well, er, uhm, you know .... nothing came out.
