I won 2 tickets to La Boheme opera in San Francisco when I called into the classical music station I was listening to & had the right trivia answer. But I don’t like opera, so I gave the two tickets to my wife’s uncle who loves opera.

My lovely spouse is loopy for Michael Buble, so we went to his recent show in Baltimore. The guy’s got talent. Impressed me.

Beach Boy song writer Brian Williams at the Hollywood Bowl was the best concert I saw all year.
Good show, he played most of his big hits only a few “new stuff” and the Chuck Berry cover “Johnny B. Good” (to show off how talented his guitar player was..... wow!).
Great musical ensemble, the Hollywood Bowl is a great venue, Brian's voice aint what it used to be but he knew it and faded out on the difficult notes (and he had supurb back up).
All in all a great time was had by all.

Seen, this past Aug. at Clifden, Co. Galway - Music at the Crossroads.
This traditional Irish music and dance performance is magnificent. They are currently on tour in the USA.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra about a month ago.
Completely different than we expected. Guess a little research beforehand was in order.
A dazzling light, laser and pyrotechnic show.
Music? Hard rock. Excellent musicians.
Bottom line, glad we went to see them.. once.

It’s kinda funny. I’m in country and classic rock cover bands but I don’t watch big name concerts.
The reason is simple: I don’t do TicketMaster and I don’t pay over $50 to see any act.
I did see the beach boys a couple months ago but that is strictly because John Carlson of KVI gave them to me for free on the air.
I do have a lot of concert DVD’s though.

Bad Livers (Danny Barnes rules!)
Richard Thompson (fantastic musician, too bad he's such a leftist)
Roan Mountain Hilltoppers
Jerry Douglas
Wayne Hancock (will be seeing him on Dec. 27)Out of all those I would love to see Richard Thompson with his band. Not solo
Plant/Krause would be nice for ten minutes

Oddly enough, I don’t think I went to any big-name concerts at all this year. I’ve been to a load the past couple years, and am generally pretty good at scoring free tickets so it’s all affordable. In any case, I’ve probably seen a couple local indie bands...
