I wanted to go beat Jason Garrett senseless for the fourth quarter play selection. The last three drives for the cowboys before the ill-fated overthrow of a wrong route by Witten all started with the same lack of offensive imagination:
1st down hand off to RB for off-tackle run - gain 1 yard.
2nd and 9: drop back and get sacked.
3rd and LOOOOOONG: screen pass / incomplete
4th down: shank a punt into a stiff wind.

Has brilliant Garrett never heard of freakin' play action pass on first down -- especially when the defense is gearing up with 9 in the box to stop the run???

in the comments, there’s a post saying that she had cancelled some appearance due to a broken jaw.

I too had not heard of her injury before, adn wonder. I Certainly hope that she is uninjured, and that anybody dumb enough to lay a hand on her is probably wearing brown trousers about now.

well when we left at 6:30 for 7 pm Mass there were 4+ minutes left, it was 10-3 Cowboys and i thought it was the end of the game, not just the end of the 3d quarter coming up. so i was totally suprised when xsboy said the Stillers won.

seriously, other than like a car accident or something similar, i can’t imagine what it would be. if there were fisticuffs it would have been a huge news story, don’t you think?

I understand. But as much as I dislike OU, and as tired as I am of the UT whining, I have an even deeper disgust at the SEC, the Big 10, and the PAC 10 with their woefully undeserved superiority complexes. I am disgusted at the media bias that shows up in the polls that pretty much disregards everything between the Mississipi River and the Rocky Mountains as irrelevant (at least everything south of Ohio and Michigan). I want the Big 12 to vindicate the honor of the conference with a sweep because of the disrespect that it gets relative to the “elite” conferences of the BCS.

opting instead to spend it raking up 28 bags of leaves from the yard.

Don't rake and bag leaves. Mow over them with the lawn mower and turn the into mulch. Not only is it a heckuva lot easier, it is also better for the environment and for your yard.

I agree with you except for two things - ou and texas - the media love them and as far as they are concerned, no other team in the Big 12 exists. They may as well go ahead and crown ou each year - they love them.

Do you recall how the fans and media hacks were whining about Brent Venables all year until they beat Tech? Now he's suddenly a genius - 10 games they hated his defense and suddenly he is head coach material because of one game.

They may as well put usc, ou, texas, florida, ohio state, alabama, penn state and georgia in one conference and not bother with the rest of football - you know they want to.

dunno. the particulars might not be newsworthy, or it can be too soon for the story to break, or the whole thing might NOT be true, like I pray.

I’ve seen several friends and acquaintences injured this summer, some seriously. And a cute 24yo developed a severe back condition. my prayer list is pretty long right now, and I probably bore the Big Guy when I recite it...

don’t let anything odd happpen to YOU, my dear, willya?

Festoon : To make a silly, unbelievable confession. Festoon is a contraption of confession and cartoon, hence festoon.

In a sentence: “The blind man made a festoon to looking in his neighbor's window”.

Who the heck goes to Mass in the middle of a Steeler game?

I was settling in for a nice OT, when Santa Romo came early.

That was one heck of a struggle, with both teams and the elements. That’s real football Nothing like the SEC and Big 12 flashy 63-48 shootouts.

I should festoon something around here. It’s my son’s birthday. He’s already had 2 cakes delivered by girls from school. I’m not making one for him until the weekend because we don’t need that much cake in this house.
