The BCS is broken but a playoff would destroy college football.

The Texas/OU/Tech thing is *not* a BCS issue. Each conference sets their own tiebreaks and *any* poll used as just the third level is moronic. Take that away and there is only one controversy left.

The controversy with Boise could be resolved with a playoff for a BCS bowl but not the championship. A second at large school in the top 12 should be able to play a lower ranked BCS team for the right to a bowl. That would mean if Boise wants in they have to play Virginia Tech or the lowest ranked BCS seeking at at large (Ohio)...

The Texas/OU/Tech thing is *not* a BCS issue. Each conference sets their own tiebreaks and *any* poll used as just the third level is moronic.

The were six tiebreakers by the Big 12 in case three teams tied. The BCS poll was the fourth tiebreaker. Fifth was also a tie (all three had same overall winning percentage), and sixth would have been a drawing.

The BCS poll was put in to put in to advance the team with the best chance of winning the National Championship.

The BCS tiebreakers are:

Divisional Tiebreakers: The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made.

1. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
2. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other.
The records of the three teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative.
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.
