Thanks for that. I could have written the same thing myself. I tried talking to my peers and relatives my age this election season, but it was like banging my head on a wall. Yaddity yaddity.. Sarah Palin’s stupid... she’s a religious nut.. Bush economy... its not fair the rich have so much let’s tax them... whine why can’t the government give me healthcare... First black president!... Obama is young and refreshing and change and cares about us young people! It’s depressing that amount of sheer ignorance - particularly on economic matters, whining, and groupthink. Some of the kids I know who used to think for themselves now all say the same tripe. Well, I at least take comfort in the fact that kids like us will be ok whatever happens because we take responsibility for ourselves and don’t need some political messiah to give our lives meaning. And of course, I can’t wait for when reality sets in and these kids realize “the emperor has no clothes.” Our generation definitely needs a harsh dose of reality.
Here Here! The fortunate thing about all this is I think that at least people in our generation are quite wishy washy and are not completely set in their ideals - things change as you get older and settle down and then they find out that the govt. actually considers them rich and start taxing them more and if the economy goes even further down the tubes they will be clamoring for fiscally conservative principles and may even rethink their beliefs on “religious zealots” and “Palin’s stupidity.” I will just sit back and grin when this happens!
