Note the guitar solo at 4:42, simple yet powerfully soulful ... Pete Townshend knows how to wrest every note from a guitar, that is until he smashes the damn thing! /lol
Albert Lee, he’s a picker... Country Boy is killer.
Jimi
Pali Gap
Villanova Junction (Woodstock “instrumental solo”)
Anything from ‘Hendrix in the West’ and ‘Band of Gypsys’
Hendrix said that Woodstock was the best he ever played.
After Hendrix there’s a ton of great guitar songs.
Try Cream’s ‘Crossroads’.
Anything from ‘Tightly Knit’ by Climax Blues Band.
Etc., etc., etc....
Three Days - Jane’s Addiction
There are so many to choose from, but some of my favorites are:
Free Bird- Lynyrd Skynyrd
Eruption- Van Halen
Heartbreaker- Led Zeppelin
Electric: Crossroads, Eric Clapton/Cream farewell concert.
Acoustic: Just about anything by Doc Watson.
But seriously though, nothing can match legend BB King and hot-shot Gary Moore in this clip:
BB King & Gary Moore - The Thrill is Gone
Gary shows off and plays clouds and clouds of gnat notes, while BB just sits back and laughs, until his moment comes, where BB simply screams SOUL with only one or two or four notes ... gotta love thems Blues :)
Best Guitar solo........... Jimi Hendrix.......... Red House
The Black Rose by Thin Lizzy
BAD Motor Scooter (Live) Sammy Hagar
Astronomy (live) BOC
La Villa Strangiato Alex Lifeson
Crazy Train Randy Rhodes
Fade to Black Metallica
Tierra Del Fuego George Lynch
Eruption Eddie Van Halen
Blue Sky Duane Allman
Comfortably Numb David Gilmore
Hibernation Ted Nugent
These are some of the ones that have always stood out for me.
In the Fields: Gary Moore
Strange Kind of Woman: Deep Purple
Black Magic Woman: Santana

Insane. Redhouse is his masterpiece
The question for everybody is:
How does Jimi Know the guitar so well? How can anybody be that good?
Lindsey Buckingham. Phil Keaggy. ‘nuff said.
I use http://www.pandora.com and have created music channels with Eva Cassidy (great vocals) and Phil Keaggy (fantastic guitars).
The station starts off with an artist you name, and then you “tune” the playlist by voting yea or nay on music selections.
It has allowed me to hear lots of artists that are new or not mainstream.
Well worth recommending to spread your CD collection.
Dave Gilmour - Comfortably Numb
Randy Rhoads - Crazy Train
Vernon Reid - Cult of Personality
My all time favorite and trust me it was very hard to choose just one is Larry Carlton playing with Steely Dan doing the title cut from the “Kid Charlemagne” album.
