OK, lets brain storm some better words. I’ve been thinking about your comment for a while about the need for better words.
Gay marriage rights could =

Special Marriage rights
Peculiar marriage rights
queer marriage rights:)

since they are asking for special, above and beyond normal. However the words marriage and rights are still in these phrases.

Non life giving marriage
unproductive marriage
barren marriage.
sterile marriage.
non breeding marriage
non prolific marriage

These rename Traditional Marriage.

True Marriage
Historically lawful marriage.

Help me people!!!!! Freepers are incredibly cleaver when it comes to words!

I don't want to even give them the word gay. That word was purloined several decades ago but let's be honest -- the original meaning of that word is never coming back. I can live with that. But I'll fight the gay lobby to the bitter end over the word "marriage."

Here's the phrase I always use: "Roommate Union." If two men or two women who share the same domicile wish to receive civil benefits comparable to a married couple, then I suggest they perform the paperwork and make it so. But it's not marriage: It's a civil "Roommate Union."

What say you?

No one is trying to deny these people their rights. It is more of a matter of stopping gays from stepping on the rights of religious institutions that do not support the gay life style.

It is wrong to force churches to accept something that they religiously believe is wrong.

I do support them to have “legal” marriages with the same rights as religiously married couples under mans law, but as for the definition of marriage as given by churches. Gays do not have the right to tell religious groups what they should believe or how they should conduct their beliefs.

Equal rights folks, not more rights than everyone else.

Same Sex Marriage. Which then gives way to Same Sex Adoption, Same Sex Divorce, and Same Sex Spouse insurance coverage by all employers as well as teaching children to “respect” Same Sex Marriages.

So much for it being about adults or in private.

When does an adopted child consent to be brought up in an alternative sexuality household?

Equating civil rights which are based upon amoral characteristics (race, color) with the right to practice immorality is as confusing as homosexual marruage itself.

God has made man and women uniquely compatible and complementary, in more ways than just physical (though that the gas pump does not go in the exhaust pipe should be reason enough)

But America is in Romans 1, and (if you read it) is increasingly manifesting the effects described therein.

Freedom not Sodom!

I admit I have no strong feelings about this topic. ‘Gay marriage’ poses no threat to my marriage. But I do have a question to ask of those who are crusading for ‘gay marriage.’ When ‘civil unions’ give you all the benefits of marriage, why do you insist on ‘marriage?’ Is there a logical reason? Or is it that you continue to seek heterosexual approval, even if it has to be in the legislature or in the courts?

Sodomy was originally the practice of homosexual prostitution in the Temple, and which allowance set the moral standard for the nation. Thus mere sanction by the State is not sufficient for the demonic spirits behind homosexuality, rather as the devil seeks to insult God and to defile that which is or was God’s, so universal sanction of homosexuality - which itself is an insult to the Creator - by churches - most preferably evangelicals ones - is the goal.
