Still my favorite Star Trek ship (although I did not care for DS9):

After Jan. 20, I’d like to get on this ship so I can go to another planet.

I reject this whole rehash as non-canon anyways.

I was looking at the promo photos linked in the story. How can a 16 year-old run a starship? ...learners permit?

Of all the Star Trek movies to be inspired by, the FIRST one?!
Granted, the Save the Whales movie and the one where Kirk wins an argument with some force masquerading as God (using 20th cebtury pop-psychology, no less) were even more lame, but that first one was a snooze fest, and utterly forgettable. I just remember some bald lady in it. After that movie they didn't try that again until Sigourney Weaver (with even WORSE results).

I’m surprised that nobody has yet built a life sized model of the Enterprise as a hotel. The original Enterprise was spartan, so they would probably base the design on TNG Enterprise.
Many of the processes could be duplicated, such as issued locater-communicators that are small walkie-talkies, with RFID chips in them to quickly locate an individual. There could also be some voice recognition so that you could ask or talk to computers.
The “Ten Forward” restaurant could be very creative with both food and drink. Etc.

There is only one Capt. James T.Kirk just like there is only one Batman. All others are poor imitations.

The first movie was fun to see, mostly due to the audience members who dressed up, but it stunk almost as bad as the last two series (of the five). I think the upcoming movie recasts the original series characters using new actors. Lucky them, eh?

Coolest Ship Reveal EVER. Joss Whedon’s Serenity. Less majestic than the Star Trek:MP reveal, but more poignant for a Browncoat-fanboy like me.
