I am still recovering. Tonight I was invited to a party at the home of some friends. Nice people there, for the most part. Lots of food, wine, beer. Former students of mine, now in college, were there. All very nice. A fun social gathering. A mildly liberal crowd with a few conservative Republicans sprinkled in. We were all avoiding talking politics, anyway. But then, rather late, just as I was preparing to leave, some guy across the room slandered Sarah Palin. I responded with a very mild, friendly, "I rather like Sarah." That's all I said. Suddenly I was the target of the most vitriolic tirade out of someone's mouth you have ever heard. The guy went on and on about how evil I was because I was a Republican, how they had ruined the planet, how I was a piece of S@#t, a lowly scum, a jerk, etc. and other such languge. He got bery personally insulting. I was in shock, saying very little, trying to weigh his ignorance, trying to remain civil in a public setting, someone else's home. A few "I'm sorry that you feel that way" as I hobbled my way on crutches (I was injured recently) into the next room to say my farewells to my hosts. But I was deeply offended. And yet, it was more like I was in shock, having been accosted by the devil, himself. It was like I needed an exorcist in the room. I half expected the man's head to start spinning around and hurling green vomit. In short. It was frightening. Truly. And it is hard to understand how some people can be so utterly full of hate and venim. Then it occurred to me: this is what we are up against. Pure, mindless hatred. Do I dare call it evil?

What’s going on here is projection. It’s the easiest thing for people that believe in moral relativism. Nothing is ever their fault. Which means it has to be someone else’s fault.
Every failure or disappointment that they experienced is now a result of Bush’s policies (BDS). Now Palin is vocalizing morals, values and strength for our country so they project it on her as well (PDS).
Both BDS and PDS are completely irrational.
A few weeks ago, I got the same treatment from my brother, whom I am very close to. We have always been able to tease eachother at election time. You are right it was frightening.
He called me the other night and asked me why I haven’t called him. I told him exactly why. He scared me when he talked that way. He had no idea that what he said was that bad. He said he was sorry. He had no idea he came off that way.
I reminded him that I loved him. I think we are ok now, but I will never trust him if Obama gets elected.

It doesnt matter. They WILL begin to expect confrontation and after long enough and many loud exchanges, they will shrink from it. It just wont be worth the fight... To them...
Just consider the alternative... What we have been doing all these years, turning the other cheek and being polite has gotten us to the verge of marxism in this country.
No one EVER won a war by nice’ing and polite’ing the the other side to death. lol... Get in their faces and destroy thier arguments. More importantly make them think twice before opening their sorry mouths in the first place.

Turning the other cheeck has not brought about Marxism, it has been the result of 40 years of the radical left becomming entrenched in acedemia, Hollywood and the media ( all liberal arts) and shaping the minds of 2 generations of adults. You are not going to win thses arguments. The left has people convinced against all historical facts that Republicans are racist, homophobic, warmongers. But I wish you the best of luck.
I need one who can prescribe or a doctor who will prescribe. Therapy is a waste of time at this point. If I run out of my meds which happened last weekend (and I finally found one that works on the internet; they found the other one), I can't sleep and have anxiety attacks where my heart races up to six times a day or more.

I've known that for years now. I've been trapped in the system since the 1960's, never been diagnosed as psychotic. I think it's part of the reason I don't improve. I've prayed my heart out for my family all these years, and I do not believe any of them ever once prayed for me for this although others have which I appreciate. The key is my family. Their immoral sexual behavior and other things they do in their lives is not helping things.
One day years ago when I was feeling really trapped and scared, I asked my now ex-husband to stay with me for just that one day, to pray for me, and he walked out in disgust. Heaven is filled with the prayers I sent up for him and his safety for years before that. He never knew because I didn't tell him.
Thank you so much, I don't want a prayer thread because at this point I would be embarassed, but you get it.
They became entrenched because we let them. We were either to lazy, stupid or naive to fight them at every single corner ever single time they opened their mouths.
The ONLY goal of getting in their face and arguing with them is convincing them that they are in for a fight EVERY time they open their mouths. I dont care about changing their minds, I just want to cow them, subdue them and make them think twice about spitting their bile.
