You'll get price controls before $20 bread and then you'll get shortages. At that point, if you have a loaf of bread you'll be accused of hoarding. All the while, the party apparatchiks will be shopping at the government stores.

Personally we garden, fish and hunt and have refined the fine art of bartering for services and products versus cash deals !
