They were to my SE. Dishes in this area orient to the SW. I'd put the angle at @ 75-80 degrees. Geosynchronous satellites orbit only over the equator. I was at @ 40-46 north.

I don't know exactly what I saw, iow, I can't identify it. Nothing in my experience or education satisfies my question about it. I'm just reporting things exactly as I saw them.
