My father-in-law made a great point about Bob Dole when he was running for president and spouting the same bipartisan mush. He said that, as long as Dole had been in Congress and in the minority, he had to learn to compromise to get anything done. Even when he was running for president, he wasn’t able to do anything different.
Sadly, McCain’s decades in the Senate have left him with the same disability. Which is why I’d just as soon never run a senator or congressman for president again. Give me governors — or Newt (out of govt) any day.
And every bill I’ve seen that McCain got passed with another democrat was a democrat bill. They got what they wanted and McCain got his name on the bill so he could say “I know how to reach across the isle.” Sickening.
