When she gave her speech at the convention, I thought it was excellent, compelling, refreshing.
For some reason, her delivery tonight, coupled with her frequently redirecting her answers to questions without specifically answering a given question, was irritating to me.
I understand that fact-checking would probably reveal that Biden is playing fast and loose with facts, and/or flat-out lying on several points -- but in my estimation, an unbiased viewer saw this exchange as one between an articulate, reasoned, substantive presentation by Biden --- and Palin's hodgepodge of cliches, catch phrases, nonanswer answers, and for lack of a better word, fluff.
It's probably lost on the vast majority of the audience, but Biden's philosophy was really laid bare at the outset, when talking about taxes, when he said "Where I come from, that's not redistribution -- that's called 'fair.'" Well Joe, where you come from, a steaming pile of crap may be called filet minon, but that doesn't make it anything other than a pile of crap.
Finally, I think that overall Biden had a much better ability to articulate the issues using objective details (false, fabricated, distorted as they may be); while Palin was basically floating a sparse collection of facts smothered in emoting.
BINGO.
If you use false statements objectivity falls out of the question.
