I thought Biden sadly had here on the issues. She was likeable but he new the the issues vs here reciting the talking points

Yes, Biden knows enough about the issues and his and Obama's record on the issues...to lie early and often.

No, just not on board with the crowd. She lost the debate fair and square. In fact, if I were her high school debate team coach, I’d spank her for losing focus and ignoring the questions (a nice thought, actually).

OTOH, Biden probably had access to the questions before hand. He was just too quick, detailed and smooth to pull off that feat extemporaneously. Biden is, after all, an impetuous blowhard. In this debate, however, he wiped the floor with her in objective fact.

You must have been watching TV and relaxing . . .

“Maybe you were out of the room, but Gov. Palin did mention this twice and Biden disagreed with that comment at least once.”

Well, Krauthammer and Hume also missed it, as well as other Fox commentators.

I do believe she got under Biden’s skin a couple of times. I
listened to every word she said, wanting to know what she was going to say, but found myself completely bored and tuned out of Biden’s long winded Washington insider speak.
On that point she completely dominated the debate. I wanted to hear what SHE said. If others watching were of the same mindset, Palen won.

Election debates are not debates.

I think many of us here would have done better. Still, I suppose she looked good and that’s what counts.

"we will lose"

What you said. The thing that Americans are maddest about the most is the financial mess. McCain for some strange reason only known to God refuses to blame the Dems. This issue will probably cost the Pubbies the election unless McCain addresses this directly.

BTW, I would guess Biden had the questions in advance - too smooth and too quick.

You know, I thought the exact same thing --- the part that stood out to me was the question about "Which is more dangerous -- nuclear-armed Iran or Pakistan" (or something to that effect) -- and Biden just seamlessly launched into a coherent, well-thought-out response.

Reminded me of on-scene reporters, after they deliver their news report, fielding an "off-the-cuff" question from the news anchor back at the studio, and amazingly, they have a prepared answer (e.g., "So, Mary, do you get any sense of which way the House is going to vote on this bill?" -- "Well, Bill, I talked to several aides of prominent lawmakers, and their feel was that...").

Yes, he lied. But she didn’t know it and couldn’t or didn’t refute it. That’s the point of the debate. If you judge character, yes she won. But by points, she never called him on his lies - big mistake.

It’s McCain that stopped her. For whatever reason McLame does not want to touch that subject.

FRANK-ly, I’m getting sick of it.

Bad pun.

Agreed. However, 'the facts' matter very little in these things.

What mattered is that she connected. Joe obviously knows his stuff and is very proud of the fact that he knows his stuff, but he stood up there like a professor telling us what he thought we needed to know.

She, on the other hand, was very authentic and believable.

If you use false statements objectivity falls out of the question.

The word was "objective," as in, "involving or deriving from sense perception or experience with actual objects, conditions, or phenomena."

Whether or not Biden's "facts" were honest, he probably succeeded in making a lot of people think they were honest, which in politics is most of the battle.

Watch it. You will be stirred with patriotism. She has a down-to-earthness that is unmatchable. She let the people know that she will represent us. At one point, if we could've heard what Biden was thinking, it may very well have been "I wish I could've won the Presidential nomination. And I wish Sarah Palin could've been my running mate." LOL

There were one or two weak points (one being the "two state solution" regarding Israel and Palestine---a dreadful continuation of the failed Bush policy, IMO) but her direct, honest, positive and gracious demeanor made Biden look like a plucked chicken. I was worried at first since the MSM's powerful negativity rays had gotten through to me and thus my expectations were low. I found myself cheering her after mere minutes. Bravo, Governor (VP) Palin!

I also caught that. I was YELLING at the screen for her to contradict him in that area...so many times! She never took the shot!! It did seem almost like he set her up to respond. Maybe she caught that, and decided not to take the bait?

She, on the other hand, was very authentic and believable.

And that's all that matters. Perception is reality.

Ganging up on Biden and making him almost cry was not too classy. Once again we see the media trashing the dems. Considering the pressure he was under however Biden held his ground against his much more informed opposition. Sarah should have held back in the spirit of dignity. It was just a bit unfair the way Biden was trounced. /s

"Did I hear Joe Biden say that Obama has asked him to kind of stand over his shoulder to counsel him in the tough decisions...in a paternal fashion? Like Obama admits he doesn’t have the experience? "

Yes! You heard that correctly!
