McCain needs to have her doing some ads to put across the country!!!

The line where she said, "I'm not here to give answers that the moderator and my opponent like, I'm speaking to the American people." That is solid gold.

What did you think of the moderator? I thought she actually did a good job. But then, I could listen to Mark Levin tomorrow and come away with a different opinion. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Was it just me or did Gwen arrange it so Biden had the last say on most questions?

It didn't matter - Sarah's words are still ringing in the ears of Americans - ORDINARY AMERICANS - they stopped listening to Joe when she said...

"We're not going to let them take advantage of us anymore!"

That was a SLAM DUNK!!!

Yep. She came across as the more experienced of the two.

“This nation was founded on faith in God. I was reading Reagan's 40th Anniversary of D Day Speech today, and he spent a lot of time talking about the faith of the heroes that gave them strength to fight and achieve victory.

We must trust God that he has his hand on our nation still. He won't let us fall.

her greatest asset is she is likeable and trustworthy

...80% of the Alaskan people approve of her......do you know there is not one congress critter or sleazy senator with years of service that could claim anything near that ..or ever could

I think she was diciplined and schooled well. I think some of Joe’s answers were him playing fast and lose with the facts. If the media will fact-check some of his statements..”Barak never said.......” (I intentionally mispelled Barack). “Barak said this.......”. Joes answers will come up lacking and inaccurate. The media will bust their asses trying to schill for Joe.

She kicked his ass...Sarah connected with average people and she had some of those good soundbites too (i.e. “your plan is a white flag of surrender”).

This election is NOT over.

Biden used the word “fundamental” way too much.
Palin was the clear winner.

Honestly, I don’t know what people think when they listen to things like this. Palin clearly lost the debate. Biden kept on track with the questions and constantly battered McCain and tied him to Bush with every chance. In short, he played the RAT strategy to the ‘T’. Sarah, OTOH, floundered about 50% of the time and tried to keep bringing up her home-town-ness and McCain’s ‘Maverick’ credentials. On several questions, she just left the studio and went off into the weeds. Overall, she did poorly. IMO, Biden took the debate handily.

Of course, this doesn’t make me the least happy, but at least I’m not drinking the kool-aid.

Sarah kicked butt alright.

But be prepared,

Fact, Biden won the Debate on Debate Grading, but Palin won the Debate based on the Connection to the American People.

So don’t feel down if you see polls that said she didn’t win the debate.

The more important question, which VP Canidate do you want in the White House.

That is where Palin kicked butt without question.

Instead, we not only didn’t get that, but she changed the topic, letting Biden’s pack of lies go utterly unchallenged.

That's my main gripe about the first part of the debate as well. McCain has an AD out touting his 2005 bill. She at least could have mentioned that, and SHOULD have also mentioned where the resistance came from. And should have mentioned the Bill Clinton quote from the ad that says DEMs are to blame for resisting tighter regs on fannie/freddie. total failure on that one, and that's THE issue right now.

I thought that Gwen was actually impartial.

I thought Sarah was amazing. I’ve never really seen anything like it. She was clearly much more “down to Earth” and she seemed to really relate to the average American than Biden.

I didn’t think Biden did a bad job. But he’s in a tough spot, the old white guy on the platform of change against the younger, energetic idealistic.

I think this will have a significant impact.

Yep, I was a bit nervous as this thing started. Then, when I saw she was holding her own, I switched from the (NY) Southern Tier India Pale Ale to the Alaskan Ale Smoked Porter that I had chilling in the fridge for Election Night. I have another bottle of the Alaskan stashed around here somewhere for then!

I will admit that she did well within the limits that the campaign gave her. I’ll vote for them. I talk to people every day about the election. But I try using the real, winning arguments of Ronald Reagen - conservatism over liberalism, personal responsibility over government nannyism.

The McCain camp is not conservative. I don’t think McCain even understands conservative principles. Our best hope is a conservative House of Representatives to keep McCain on task.

My reaction was the same. Good thing we don’t really matter. We are too knowledgable. What matters is what undecided dolts think. If Luntz’s cast of independents was any true barometer, Sarah connected.
