As Summer into Autumn Slips
by Emily Dickinson

As Summer into Autumn slips
And yet we sooner say
"The Summer" than "the Autumn," lest
We turn the sun away,

And almost count it an Affront
The presence to concede
Of one however lovely, not
The one that we have loved --

So we evade the charge of Years
On one attempting shy
The Circumvention of the Shaft
Of Life's Declivity.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel's Birthday

1833 ~ 1896

Alfred Bernhard Nobel was born October 21, 1833 in Stockholm Sweden.
Nobel, who invented dynamite, endowed a $9 million fund in his will. The
interest on this endowment was to be used as awards for people whose
work most benefited humanity. He wanted the profit from his invention to
be used to reward human ingenuity. First awarded in 1901, the Nobel Prize
is still the most honored in the world.

Beautiful fall graphics, galz! However, the leaves are still
mostly green here. I guess fall comes much later in West Texas! LOL!

Good Morning, Billie..
I love your beautiful magic fall scene and the poetry.
I just came back from my monthly grocery shopping..
Pansies, snapdragons and mums were for sale in the garden center...
My pink dogwood tree is still the only sign of fall around here.
I really looked!
