Nailed it.
With Firefox it’s right-click on the image, select “Copy Image Location” on any platform. With Safari it’s “Copy Image Address.”
System Preferences : Keyboard & Mouse : Mouse
Change the dropdown that points to the right-top of the mouse to say “Secondary Button.”
There are electronic pressure sensors underneath the smooth mouse shell that know whether you’re pressing on the left or right side of the mouse. Don’t worry if you’re used to an old Mac mouse where you press on both places, as doing that keeps the same behavior you’re used to, acting like a left-click.
I use AVG 8.0 and I had a lot of problems initially, which I found was because of Norton AV which was installed, but not in use. I never had a conflict with earlier versions of AVG, but 8.0 forced me to remove Norton, which was a real pain. Once Norton was gone, AVG 8.0 would work. I do have the problem with it not updating, but I have not had any of the other problems you mentioned. I have never had to reboot because of AVG (other than the initial install).
It's a shame what Symantec did to the Norton name.
Hey, how else could he get work done? ;’)
:’) The right click works in 9.x, and I’m pretty sure it has worked since 7.something, at least.
I can assure you, Norton has never been installed on this machine (nor will it ever be). But you got me thinking that maybe the problem was a partial conflict with something else I have. I had the same problems on about four machines to varying degrees, but they’re all machines that I set up so the other security software and so on tends to be similar.
OTOH, that still doesn’t get AVG off the hook as all that other stuff was also installed when I had earlier versions of AVG and I never had any problem.
Re: head of Norton Anti-virus is VP?
Apparently he is head of the anti-virus division. Not the whole shebang. VP is probably correct.
So here’s what I want to know:
How the heck do I join a domain with a Mac?
How the heck do I get Entourage to talk to my Exchange server?
How the heck do I get my Mac to talk to my Dell color laser printer?
How the heck do I get my Mac to find and contact ct-server2 when I don’t know the IP address?
The technical people at my college told me to use Bootcamp and install Windows XP. I’ve got plenty of Windows machines. I was hoping I could use the Mac for work.

WOW! Thanks for that link!
I LOVED Norton Commander and hated to give it up...I look forward to trying this.
Norton's stuff was great...wow, it sure took a nosedive so soon after Symantec bought it, didn't it? I hope Symantec can deliver on its attempt to get away from its horrible bloatware.
I also share your experiences with AVG, which I really liked and suggested to others who bought the paid version. Now, I no longer recommend it. Perhaps I'll try Comodo AV, too.
Let me know how it goes...you can be my software tester. ;-)
Looks like I already am! ;-)
Yeah, while that's my favorite, there are actually quite a few Windows shareware clones of NC DOS, and if there's that much loyalty to a 15-20 year old product originally written for another OS, you know it must have been good.
I wasn’t going to give this article much credence, till I noted that he’s drinking bottled water whose name, spelled backwards, is “naive”! Hmmm..........

I GOT IT! I GOT IT! Picture came up on previous post. I feel like it’s Christmas. I’ve been trying for several months and knew that there had to be some little thing that was changed from my last Mac, and you told me about holding the control key. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Thank you, Tribune7;conservatism-IS-compassion;PhatHead;Leonard210;antiRepublicrat.
Geeks are good people.
Well done!! Don’t give up on trying to figure out the right mouse button. It comes in handy. I use it for cut, copy and paste a lot.
If you Go>Network in Finder does the domain name appear?
How the heck do I get Entourage to talk to my Exchange server?
Can't help you there.
How the heck do I get my Mac to talk to my Dell color laser printer?
Try going to Printer Setup Utility and clicking add printer. If you are on the same network you should see it. If you see it and still can't make it work you probably have to find a driver.
How the heck do I get my Mac to find and contact ct-server2 when I dont know the IP address?
Check out Network Utilities under Utilities. It has tools that should help you.
The domain name appears but when I click on it I get the spinning disc forever. I can't even make it stop without turning off the Mac. It should ask me for a username and password. No dice.
How the heck do I get Entourage to talk to my Exchange server? Can't help you there.
That's what our IT people told me. Not good.

There is no driver for my printer. I guess it just doesn't work with Mac. Not good.

No help from the Network Utilities. The ct-server2 is in the AD domain and I can't get there with my Mac.
I expected to be able to take the Mac out of the box and use it on a wireless or wired network. No dice. I'm left with a very expensive toy that surfs the Internet and plays chess. I need to access network drives on various domains in the college. I need to share calendars and use exchange email and not with a browser. I need to be able to print on all of my network printers and provide VPN access to my Mac from my home computers.
Either our network IT people are dunces, or the Mac isn't a very good tool for my needs. That's OK because I have plenty of computers that run Windows and Linux, but the Mac will have to be relegated to a spare Internet browser for my students to use when they want ot surf the web.
I'm kind of surprised. I bought a Mac and everyone is telling me to install Windows to do what I want.
