Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
This is the very last post from theoldapartment. This is the last functioning computer, and it's about to be torn down.
The next message from the RoseBears will be from thenewhouse.
Bye, for now!
I was over in yer area yesterday on bi’ness... beat the storm home tho’...
it looks like a fruit-tree plantin’ day is ahead of us... Also got about a dozen dogwood starters from Licking...
the last month has been a marathon at werk... but very productive...
see yuh in thenewhouse!...
Woo Hoo! Happy Moving!
I got some roses to plant and plan to dig up thebulbs today. I’m thinkin’ I’ll believe the vicodin bottle when it says not to operate machinery, so no mowin’ today. Jr. will be back in mowin’ shape in a couple of days anyway.
Then gotta study. Last class of the quarter is Tuesday. Got a test and a retake of another test.
I’ve got to make a run to the vet’s office to pick up cat meds...will swing by the likker store for some hoomin meds.
I’ve got artichokes and blackberries to get in the ground. I’d put in the lilac too if I could decide on where to put it. The lawn can wait until tomorrow.
Oh...and purple coneflower. They take partial sun, right? I’m thinking about putting them on the NE corner of thesunroom.
So...the tv died last Monday and I get a new TV (with the digital tuner and all.) I’m picking up more stations from the “nonactive” cable hookup than I am with the Radio Shack digital converter. And then there are some over-the-air signals that I’m not picking up. The upshot is that I got to watch “Mister Ed” this morning. That digital scanning, however, really slows down the channel surfing.
mmmmm....hoomin meds...
Good Morning ALL - crisp and breezy, simply delightful..
LOST made for more than one interesting watercool discussion at work. The LOST followers are down to four in our group. Great theories over on the LOST thread. Simply can’t believe it’ll be SEVEN months till we find out what happened.
Glad to hear you made to theridge ahead of the storm. Downtown and the Northland got a heap of rain. Folks still insist on driving through flooded intersections with the usual results.
Well, interestingly enough, the books say full sun but we’ve got ‘em in full and partial sun with most in-between locations. We’ve got a bunch of them all from one plant.
New TV cool, guess the changeover is going to happen this time. Looks like you’re prepared.
Heh. Yeah. I turned on the TV on Monday morning. Hmmmm.....either I’m going blind or the TV just died. It’s got more hookups for stuff than the old TV so I don’t have to get up every time I want to switch the video imput from DVD player to laptop.
I looked it up in the book and it says it will tolerate partial shade. This spot gets afternoon sun. I’ve had irises there before and although they did manage to bloom late in the season, they never got as big as the ones on the SW end of the sunroom. I guess tomorrow or maybe later this afternoon when the ground has had some time to dry out, I’m going to dig a bunch of peat moss and compost in that spot and install the coneflowers.
The likker store and the vet’s office are open now, so I’m off!
*whimper*
You just had to remind me, didn't you?
There's just nothing else like it on TV. Nothing even comes close. I sincerely hope the wrap-up is well done and fulfilling.
I’m doing some tidying and some writing and trying to decide whether or not to head to the first bluegrass festival of the season. It’s gorgeous weather here—supposed to be in the 70s. But I’m on-call and have a lot of errands to run, especially with more festivals taking over more weekends in the next little bit. So we’ll see.
Did I mention it’s gorgeous? Currently sunny and approaching sixty. Nothing like a week of downpouring to make you really appreciate sunshine.
Woo-hoo! Happy moving! Check in when you can!
You’ll have to get more pictures of your new digs once you’re all settled in!
Done all the yardening I plan to do today. Supposedly we’re getting thunderstorms, but none yet. Got the roses planted, bulbs dug up, mulch, milky spore around the grapes, cannas and hibiscus and a couple other things. Not bad fer an invalid.
Today’s yardening question: Ivy on the shed? Quaint or destructive?
Discuss.
Last show of the season of '24' on Monday.
Heh...24 kinda illustrates my point.
It has been decided bleh for quite some time now.
I think any of those climbing plants, if they grip on the surface itself, will ulimately cause rot, by creating fissures, and allowing water into them. Why not find an inexpensive trellis to attach to the shed, and let the ivy climb on that!
