The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!
Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh, I don’t watch it either. We already watch several network shows each week; more TV than we’ve watched in years.

LOL! Been a L-O-N-G night, huh?Long? I've got 2/3rds of the night still ahead of me. Things are usually quiet (disasters excepted) between now and 5AM. Then another shift starts wandering in, demanding that their six-month-old problems be fixed now.

I’m working from home today.
Stop laughing.

Barring unforseen disaster (which is always possible...) I'm going to try to take off this afternoon in order to get stuff at the apartment ready for the move tomorrow. We'll see how that works out....

Oh, I remember that line, but I can't remember who said it!
Was it Johnny Carson?

Evening OT - that was quite a drive home; lots of flooded driving lanes, took it easy and made it unscathed.
G’nad - heads up, it’s darn near to your place.

I made it in before the deluge....some pretty ugly-looking skies this afternoon.

That was sure good planning on your part. Cut the grass last night, in retrospect that was good planning on our part or just dumb luck, well, whichever, glad it’s done.

I didn’t get much of anything done yard-wise this week. Spent a lot of time at werk on muh feet and the dogs were tired.

I just watched an episode of "Ace of Cakes", where Duff and the gang flew to Hawaii, and made a HUGH cake for the cast and crew of "Lost", for their 100th episode. It was a really COOL cake! It was an island, about 5' across, and on it was a palm tree, a suitcase, a computer, and several cans of Dharma Initiative Beer. The 'cans' of beer were also layers of cake cut in cylinder shapes, and covered with a pliable fondant on which had been silk screened the brand. They also had little figures for each of the cast members, and they LOOKED like the actors! The actors were so excited, and got a kick out of their own little decorated figures.
While the "Ace" folks were in Hawaii, they also made a special cake for an Army celebration. They made a Blackhawk helicopter complete with working lights and propellers! It was seriesly cool, as well.
