Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
How about what they did to Elrond?
About as bad as Faramir, IMHO. Of course nearly all of the elves were pretty nasty, excepting Arwen, Legolas, and Galadriel.
Yeah, all the wimmin elves weren't too bad...
I'm just sayin'.
more the engrish!
I think lembas was like Nilla Wafers.
*all* of them...?
There were ~male~ elves?
Huh... Yah learn sumpthin new every day.
I forgot they made these weeks so long.
~sip~
Ick. Two more days, then a well-deserved and long-delayed week off.
Tell me about it.
At least today my new dishwasher arrives.
Thank you for the links, I’ll check them out soon. Ever since the Hobbit left at the end of the last movie I’ve been wondering where he went (Newfoundland? j/k, I know its a made-up world), and I hope this next story provides some answers such as:
—where did the Hobbit go (really: not Newfoundland)
—are there other hobbit people there, cuz it’s just him and his dad on the ship with the elfs and that’s (excuse me) not much of a future
—will we see any of the other hobbits that stayed behind again.
You should read the books. Or at least watch the movies again.
I am tempted to fill you in and answer those but like Corin said, you REALLY should just go read the books. Start with ‘The Hobbit’ because it comes first.
If you aren't for real, well, read 'em anyway. They're worth reading repeatedly.
LOL I just read the links and feel like a total dork. Jeesh.
So I guess the end of the movie was really the end of the story (and either the book will tell me where they went, or I don’t need to know) and for whatever reason they made the Lord of the Rings movies first instead of the Hobbit. OK, I can live with that.
Go ahead and laugh at me :) I can live with that too. You shoulda heard me when I figured it out!
(seriously if someone could just tell me where they went cuz I have a feeling that’s at the end of the book(s) and if I start at the beginning it’s going to be a long road to answer one question which seemed so important until this morning)
Wow.
I really don’t know what to say.
Read the books.
Oh, and welcome to FR. I hope you know more about politics and US hiory than you do about Middle-Earth.
...history...
You should definitely read the books. They’re great.
If all you’ve seen is the movies, I’m not surprised you couldn’t figure out where Frodo was going with the Elves. Short answer, “Elf Heaven”. Long answer involves reading a lot of material. Medium answer - the Elves aren’t native to Middle Earth, they have a homeland that mortals can’t ordinarily go to, and once the elves go home they can’t come back to Middle Earth. Frodo was allowed to go with them because of his role as Ringbearer.
And because he no longer had the Precious. Like this one.
