Nonsense.

Eowyn was good enough with a sword that I’d bet she could work a 12ga with one hand like Sarah Connor. :-)

What else could anyone wish for? So what if she’s not so great a cook... we’ll just have to eat at the Green Dragon. Could be worse...

I didn't kill it! I've been off-line all afternoon, cause we moved my computer from one wall in the den to the other one. I had to first clear it off, which was a major operation. ;o)

The only thing left is to re-connect the sound, which SirKit is going to do tomorrow.

This “Steward of Gondor” fellow is seeming like a real p#!*&.

In reading the books, Denethor came across to me as stern and businesslike, at least until he cracked.

PJ took the same scenes, and the visuals showed him as off-the-rails from his first appearance. This was a bit jarring for me, especially compared to the fatherly treatment Theoden showed Merry, which wasn't in the movies, but should have been, just for the contrast.

Tonight's Saturday Night Gun Pron is just a quick look at something I came across while looking for something else. It's the P38 my dad received from a nice German who wanted it to go to a good home, since he couldn't keep it in an American POW camp.

The "byf 44" marking shows that it was made by Mauser in 1944. It's in overall great shape, being dropped only once. The bluing is getting thin, and it never had the gorgeous rust-blue finish of the commercial models from before and after the war. Here's the other side:

As I was looking it over, I now realize that this weapon, the great-grandfather of the "wonder 9s", had a whole bunch more small, complex parts than most modern military autos have.

Shooting it is interesting, because it ejects brass straight up, just like the Luger. I guess the Germans had a thing about hot brass landing on your head, down your shirt, or in your pocket, because that all happened to me when I fired it. Also, the cover, "C", which is tempered spring steel, must have gotten weak over the years, because it popped off during firing, causing me to look for the loaded-chamber indicator and spring, ("H" and "I") in some tall grass. I found them, but I realize I still need to buy some spare parts.

Still, it's an interesting weapon that continues to influence designs 70 years after its introduction. And I'm grateful I have some family history in mine.

Men don't buy pajamas for pistol-packin' mamas. Oh you can't get a man with a gun.

Morning Winmag, the Numrich Arms schematics can be a lifesaver when that little part goes missing. The P-38 is quite a nice shooting sidearm, the fact your father got it makes it twice as valuable imho. Hope you found the parts you needed.

Morning OT, wow, what a difference a day makes, Gypsy thinks yesterday was more pleasant, and we concur. It’s brisk out there, wear your mittens.

yup, it’s out, just isn’t doing much warm up. Think it’s time to head to the loading bench. Got some bullets yesterday that need to be made into ammunition.

Hope you found the parts you needed.

The P38 still has all the original parts, although I ordered a few tiny springs (and a new top cover) from Numrich just in case. And a Wolff spring kit as more just-in-case.

Never a bad idea, having an extra spring set. I got some extra spring sets, I doubt I would have thought about it if you hadn’t originally mentioned it in one of the Saturday Nite postings.

In the gunshop yesterday, (bullet run), I noticed a pair of P-38s in the case. I’m fairly certain these were the later police guns. Still it’s neat to see them.

Well, you going to treat Miss Kitty to the new and improved cat grass?

Haven’t thought much about the garden/landscaping yet.

What do you think the cause of the cover coming off....weird event....?!!??

Very rugged design, seems the history of it doesn’t show or indicate much abuse etc ......other than the “only dropped once”.......:o)

Thanks for that report !

Yeah, I’m planning on it. Their regular cat grass isn’t in the catalog. I don’t think Miss Cat will notice any difference between the two.

So far I’ve got two catalogs. I’m trying to find something that will grow in those planter boxes. I seem to be able to grow lemon balm pretty well so at least I’ll have that...and aloe. Right now I’m looking for herbs and succulents.
