Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
They have a lot of odd and/or elite stuff, like this:
In a moment of weakness, I ordered the bayonet lug and a Victorinox bayonet for the Sig 556.
I'd actually prefer a used, broken in item than something new. I'd expect it to be in black leather.
Hey all.... I’ll start a new thread in the morning, I think... I just don’t have a lot of creative energy tonight.
Oh, OK...I guess I’ll have to unpack the PJs
Evening Win-mag : that’s a fine P-210 there. That is a heck of sidearm. Nice web-site; congrats on the bayonet.
Heh...you’ll find a line of sleepy hobbits camped out on the sidewalk waiting for the new hole to open.
It sounds like you want a M3 or M7 "tanker" holster. They were intended for the M1911, but the government also had similar holsters for revolvers, mostly Colt and S&W with 5" barrels.
A very good discussion of pros and cons, and sources is here.
If you're going for a leather holster, go with something new, and be prepared to pay about $100 for it. You can get similar holsters in synthetics for $30 and up. You want new leather because you can wet-mold it to your handgun as part of the break-in process. Leather is pretty delicate, and something 50-60 years old is just a sack, rather than a critical part of your weapons system.
Don't feel too bad about the price. Serious CCW holders may try 5-6 $100+ concealment holsters before finding the right one. You'll only need one for open carry. A good selection of military-type holsters is at El Paso Saddlery.
The dwarves will be over at the Green Dragon...urp...('scuse me)...
It’s too early for that you know.
No such thing as “too early”...
(who changed my post stamps to Pacific time again?)
