I watched McCain’s speech. I did NOT watch BOR and the Zero prior. I watched the RNC all that evening.
I watched not because of his choice of Sarah Palin, but because I wanted a clue as to whether his choice of her was merely appeasement of the conservatives or was there really something in him that makes me think he won’t be as bad as I expect.
I by no means trust him. He has screwed with conservatives way too often for that. I also suspect that it was a close-run thing that he didn’t pick Lieberman. He also talked way too much about working with the RATS for my taste. I don’t want to compromise and work with them. In the past that has translated to “cave-in” to the commies, the pro-death, anti-America crowd.
But I can live with this. It is the best that we conservatives are going to get and it is a whole lot more than I expected.
The alternative is too ghastly to contemplate. /$.02
In my opinion, the stories that Lieberman was on the short list were all fabricated by the agenda-driven press. NEVER did I see anything which didn’t quote “anonymous McCain staffers” as the source. The media wanted Joe, and they were trying to force him into the finalists.
I also note that McCain had looked at Palin as early as February, according to a NAMED McCain aide in an article I read yesterday.
Please remember that when they write a story and don’t have a quote, dollars to doughnuts they are up to their old “get the GOP stirred up and divided” tricks.
McCain has chosen a running mate that has absolutely sent the wild liberal left wing (who is in absolute control of the House and Senate) into a frantic panic that they may have a lot of trouble recovering from.
McCain gave a great, albeit not perfect, as we would desire, speech Thursday night. We are going to disagree with McCain in the future. But, no matter how much we disagree with McCain, the alternative is so ASTRONOMICALLY WORSE that it is a really easy decision to make.
