I like the simpler stage. The DNC stage was an ADD nightmare.

I do, too. I thought the stage was a little stark at first, but then when the First Lady walked out, it looked great! Actually, it's easier to focus on the speakers with a simpler stage. And I thought the First Lady and Mrs. McCain were wonderful.
