For those who may not know the story, last May our veterinarian found this little lost girl wandering near his home out in the country. My mother had recently lost her beloved 14 year old silky terrier and our vet, after checking around to see if anyone had reported a lost dog, and wanting to help fill the empty space in her heart, called and asked my mom if she would take this little stray and give her a home. She, of course, couldn't say "no" to this precious little dog. She brought her home and immediately bonded with her.
On May 14th Sissy came into our lives and she and Chachi instantly became best friends. My mother spent the next several weeks pampering, cuddling and nurturing her, until she suddenly passed away on July 4th.
This was the last photo taken of my mom on May 24th, two days after her 80th birthday and six weeks before God called her Home. I miss her terribly, but I am not sad. It makes me smile and gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that my mother is now at Rainbow Bridge, joyfully reunited with all of her beloved pets who were waiting for her arrival. :-)
Sissy will forever have a loving home here with us and she will forever be a reminder of my mother's life-long love of all creatures great and small.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Now you went and made me cry again. Its a precious story but heart-wrenching. We can only say “she will have no more worries” in that wonderful place.

Great picture of your Mom and Sissy. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Sissy is a lucky little girl and I know that Chachi adores her.
Bit news from here. Walter (BIL) went to the hospital this morning to have a defib installed. During the procedure he stopped breathing. They got a breathing tube down him and got him back. He seems to be recovering, but it gave us quite a scare.
.. I am so glad Sissy came into you and your dear mom's life,Lori. |
